Despite all my winking and glances, Clara dialed a number and then put it on speaker the moment the call connected.
"Mr Earl, I'm here with Rena, and she said I would need a new type of medication."
There was a two-second silence, then the sound of shuffling before Kyle spoke.
"You are with Rena? Give her the phone. I have been unable to reach her at the laboratory, and she's also not responding to my emails."
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. Same old Kyle.
Clara had a satisfied look on her face.
Mira scoffed. "So you're calling some random person that you planned with is going to get us to believe that the person on the phone is Kyle Earl?"
Nobody said anything else, but the looks on their faces showed that they shared the same thoughts.
I finally stood up. "There's no need for Clara to prove anything."
