Chapter 2 - Mastery Of One's Palace

Kander sat on the watery surface, floating in one spot being constantly surrounded by blue mist, covered in blue liquid as he continuously produces and uses mana on the speech to text.

Kander knew it was bad news for Jahi if the topic of his Palace was brought up, a mortals ideals would only hinder Jahis growth.

But he grew tied of the babysitting, Jahi was taught the dangers of listening to mortal advice and the dangers of cultivating envy in the hearts of mortals. Kander would much rather return to his undisturbed Palace and hibernate secluded in bliss than think about his problems, as all ways.

"God I'm pathetic" Kander muttered as he stopped the speech to text spell and sighed, one can not hide feelings in their Palace as feelings rest in ones soul.

Kander leaned back until his back was touching the liquid floor and his sight was the black sky interrupted by occasional blue dots floating around him and Orange circles resembling blackholes drifted around the sky

A smile formed on the mans face as shoddy solace set in.

---

The day grew dark and the clouds escaped from the sky, presently the only light came from mans invention and not god's sun as it too ran off for night.

Inside the modest room beside Kanders royal chamber was Jahi's small room, it had a single bed and a desk that had paper, a pen and a poster on the wall that the chair faced saying "Palace palease!" which always confused Jahi, but Kander forbid him from taking it down.

On the bed was Jahi, meditating on his Palace in a deep slumber. Unlike Kander he didn't have any mastery over his palace, resulting in low mana efficiency and access conditions, meaning he couldn't enter at will but instead once per night.

Inside Jahi's Palace was freezing temperatures, yet Jahi would be unphased as he played in the snow that threatened frostbite if it wasnt for the protection of mana, luckily his brother was a part of the Palace so the chance of him getting frostbite is the same as the snow getting frostbite. Inside his Palace time would only move when Jahi moved, snowflakes falling is Jahi's mana source, letting it melt on his skin into watery streams of mana that spread out evenly around his body. Because of this if Jahi refused to play, how else would time pass? How else would snowflakes fall? No way, those were the ideal conditions Jahi set himself subconciously

Jahi and Kander dont know yet but Jahi's palace is very common, Kander's is a an exception as his Palace came with full mastery, he assumed they all did and Jahi got a strange Palace.

A Palace is supposed to represent Ones ideal, with powers as great as magic, human nature simply denied ideals such as isolation and nothingness and commonly inspired hefty goals.

Jahi's Palace would develop over time, its not his Palace currently but a malleable story thatll grow with time which means Jahi can't improve his magic proficiency with practice, but time itself.

However Kander was deeply troubled during Jahi's Meditation

Kander had great riches, amazing feats, legendary legacies and mythical skill yet it amounted to nothing, for a while kander has been pondering just one thing

Is there something beyond everything?

Once you reach the end of a story, you feel empty and sad at its end, thats the best way to describe Kander's feelings about himself, however he felt as if the book was lacklustre and a picture book, a trivial matter that required less effort than even the most simple tasks.

Is the life of a prodigy destined to be boring?

Or is the life of a prodigy destined to be exciting?

Perhaps there is something beyond everything, that something could only be obtained by true prodigies which would explain why he hasn't heard of anything of the sorts before - His potential is unrivalled after all.

Time for Jahi passed in an instant while in his Palace, infact he doesn't even remember what happens in his Palace unless he's inside his Palace, Mostly because his current Palace isn't his true ideal, and therefore its nothing worth remembering. Humans tend to be straight forwards when it comes to things like this.

Once Jahi awoke, his body felt light with the assistance of mana covering every inch of his body and his mind felt fresh - A rare Palace effect could be minimal healing, including the brain - he stood up and yawned while stretching, left his chamber and knocked on Master Kanders room before heading to his personal bathroom to bathe the Palace odour [1] out of him.

Leaving the shower he noticed his muscles were slightly more defined and his height had improved too, his last Palace experience must've had an abundance of mana flowing around as his body seemed to repair itself at least 4 times over, for minimal healing to affect muscle definition was quite rare indeed.

Toothbrush in mouth, Jahi heard a squeek and then dozens of thuds before another squeek, water falling and continuous yawning. Kander had woke up 10 minutes after Jahi woke him.

Kander had long surpassed the need to shower, his mana proficiency is so thick it stops dirt and grime, and so potent it destroys sweat and greases. He just simply enjoyed showering.

Kander walked out of the room after 10 minutes in his boxers and spat his toothpaste into air, suddenly a black rift appeared below his spit and it went into the void. He moved his arm left to right and the spell was dispelled, this was a custom spell he had been working on that summons a ball of earth that he condenses to miniscule sizes to create a blackhole, making a vacuum for his rubbish.

"Hey Kander?"

Jahi called Kander to tell him he put his clothes out for today on his bed, todays selection was rather modest and grand, it showed power authority and dignity with white colours being lightly contrasted with gray undertones.

"Whats with the fancy outfit?"

Kander questioned the unusual fashion change

"Theres a merchant caravan coming through town today, they set up shop behind the Master's Inn, thought we'd go and stir up business."

Kander frowned, he would much prefer to gaze into his Palace's well documented infinite expanse but he does own a village, if it was to be destroyed due to negligence it would be annoying.

"Oh also the bridge should start construction today, we can check that out too!"

Kander watched as Jahi darted around Kanders room, humming a gleeful tune and emitting such a pure aura. Where did he go wrong?

Jahi saw his disgusted look and smiled while tilting his head.

[1] The mana squeezes all the sweat out of someone as it abruptly culminates, meaning one is usually sweaty and full of body odour after a Palace Experience.
