Alexander's POV
After asking the staff to move Alicia's belongings into the master bedroom, I returned to my study to finish a few pending matters.
Earlier at the company, Sebastian Newton had come to see me.
At first, I thought he had come to plead for Karen.
Instead, he spent the entire meeting trying to convince me that he knew nothing about what his daughter had done.
When I told him the police had already confirmed he wasn't involved, the relief on his face was almost immediate. He even apologized on Karen's behalf before leaving.
People often described Sebastian Newton as a selfish man.
Today, I finally understood why.
His own daughter had been arrested, yet the only thing he seemed concerned about was clearing his own name.
Either way, there was nothing I could have done.
Karen had committed a crime.
Whether the victim had been my daughter or someone else's...
she still had to answer for it.
Just then, my phone vibrated across the desk.
Herbert.
