I stood there, frozen and unable to move, as Alexander walked toward me.
When he stopped in front of me, his eyes never left my face.
Neither did mine.
"Do you prefer to talk while standing?" he asked, amusement lacing his voice before letting out a soft chuckle.
Really?
He was actually chuckling at a time like this.
Without replying, I quietly sat down on the bench.
A moment later, he sat beside me.
Silence settled between us.
Neither of us knew where to begin.
I turned my attention to Aimy, who was happily running around the garden, chasing a butterfly as it fluttered from one flower to another.
"She's so free-spirited."
Alexander was the first to break the silence.
I glanced at him briefly and realized he was watching Aimy with eyes filled with unmistakable affection.
I quickly looked away.
"It's a good thing she didn't take after either of us in that aspect."
He turned to me, a slight frown appearing between his brows.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
