Even as dinner progressed, there seemed to be a cloud of unspoken tension. The awkwardness was starting to turn mildly uncomfortable.
I tried to engage Nana in conversation, though she seemed distracted. Usually, she would tease me endlessly, asking about our lives and joking about everything.
But tonight, her reactions were lacklustre at best.
"Alexander," Nana suddenly said, her gaze fixed on him, "I saw on the news earlier that there's a scandal involving you and that Summer girl."
Alexander stiffened slightly before replying calmly, "It's nothing serious, Nana. We've already taken care of it."
"That's good," Nana said, her tone firm. "But you know you must stay away from her, right? I know you used to date, but that was in the past. You're married to Alicia now. Lilian's return shouldn't affect your marriage."
Alexander's expression grew even more rigid.
