"Then I look forward to your future, Sairaorg."
She shifted her attention to Igor, another future paragon of this generation.
"And you, Summer. What is your aspiration?"

|DxD|- Chapter 123- My Desire Is Simple
…

Sairaorg considered himself a simple man with a clear heart. He was a forger of his own path and had done so for many decades. He was true to himself and true to others, swearing to be sincere in his words and actions.
It did not make him innocent. He too had walked atop corpses. He knew blood and he knew the loss of life. He had killed more than once, and knew the weight of his actions.
It was why he proudly saw Igor as his brother. Because he had found a comrade who not only faithfully sought strength, but did not possess the callous disregard for life that others on their path had.
There were secrets Igor had. Everyone did and he understood not everything could be shared. But even so, he could not help but want to know…
[What would make him change like this?]
It was brief, so brief he might've dismissed it as an illusion. But he knew Igor. They had fought so many times he had learned to read the blonde.
Behind the impassive expression, he'd felt the faintest flicker of killing intent, one so deep it had left him stunned.
"Such deep bloodlust."
Magari casually commented, but her eyes gained a deep seriousness. The hatred she felt was not normal. It had become so entrenched it was almost instinctual.
"I sense a boundary I must unfortunately cross, for I do not wish to teach a calamity."
"..."
Igor held a faint smile and replied respectfully.
"Then I will be honest Elder Magari. I admire Sairaorg's grand aspiration, but mine is a very simple desire. I wish to kill certain people. That is all. If this displeases you, elder, I understand and will respect your wishes."
Magari remained silent in contemplation. The leaves rustled above and her fur bristled in the breeze. Igor's ki had been disturbed. There was a venom injected into it, one that would fade with the minutes and hours, but would always return so long as the sac of hate existed.
Seconds passed in this tentative silence before she finally spoke.
"Diehauser and Baraquiel made a lot of grand promises in return for teaching you two senjutsu. You kittens, as long as you live, are destined to stand as leaders above the masses. Blood will inevitably spill during your climb, and it would be foolish of me to ask you stay your hands."
Magari slowly stood up and continued with a depth in her tone.
"However, my words do still stand. I do not ask you be benevolent, but I also do not wish to bear the stain of having taught a person of great evil."
Her attention spurred to Igor.
"I sense a great tragedy behind your aspiration. Is it a blood debt?"
"Yes."
Igor replied with clear eyes.
"I am an orphan because of them."

[No wonder…]
Sairaorg had the guess, but Igor's admittance explained everything. Igor had lost his family, maybe even his clan, tribe, or sect to an enemy. Whether it was because of his unique vitality or some other reason, such a debt could not be erased or forgotten.
"Granny Cat!"
He spoke boldly.
"I know, Igor. I can absolutely vouch for him that he won't become a monster. So please teach him as well."
Sairaorg bowed respectfully. His declaration left Igor not knowing what it was he was feeling, but it was warm.
"Idiot…"
"I agree. Your friend is quite the word you said, Summer."
Sairaorg shot up straight.
"Huh? Then…"
He paused with a bright smile, and Magari sighed.
"Your fellows promised me so many good things. It would be uncouth if I did not deliver my part of the bargain."
"Oh yeah! You hear that, Igor? You hear that??"
"I have ears, Sairaorg."
Igor responded with folded arms, but there was no hiding the curl of his lips.
"Awww come on, Igor. Smile a bit more. Come on~. Come onnn~."
"Get away from me, Sairaorg."
Sairaorg dodged Igor's swipe and laughed out loud.
"Hahahahaha! Don't mind him, elder! I know he's VERY happy."
He leaned over to Igor and cooed.
"He's been wanting this for a long time and is now too shy to show it~."
"Damnit!"
Igor retaliated with a punch and Sairaorg leaped back. The grin on his face just would not die.
"Don't worry, granny! This is his version of screaming for joy!"
"Sairaorg!"
Igor gave chase and Sairaorg dodged his kick and bounded away. Magari remained on the ground and was unable to hide her smile.
[I really look forward to what these two can accomplish.]
She laid down and licked her paw. If it were those two boys, then she wasn't too worried about the future, for she trusted in their nature. The future was uncertain, but at least her people had lifeline if anything happened to her. Because the moment she died, she held no illusions that the nekomata would be left alone.
