(LIAM'S POV)
"What happened at the hospital?" Roland asked softly.
My mother's face crumpled.
"They confirmed that Vincent was dead. The flowers had triggered a severe allergic reaction, and he hadn't been taken to the hospital in time. They said if someone had gotten him to a doctor sooner, he might have survived. But no one did. No one saved him."
She sobbed.
"Mason was in a coma. His injuries were so severe that the doctors weren't sure if he would wake up. They said he had internal bleeding, broken ribs, a fractured skull. They said if I had been even a few minutes later, he would have died too."
"Thank the stars he survived," I said, though my voice was hollow. I didn't even want to imagine it.
"Yes he survived. But he was never the same. He lost his memories of that day—of everything that happened before. And when he woke up, he was just... different. Quieter. More withdrawn and timid. Like a part of him had died along with Vincent."
