「Early the next morning.」
When Nina Jacobs pushed open her door, she saw Zoraida sitting just outside.
"Morning,"
Nina Jacobs said with a smile.
Zoraida didn't seem to be very talkative. Upon seeing Nina, she simply stood up, took her by the hand, and led her into a room down the hall.
Nina Jacobs recognized it as Zoraida's room, which had once belonged to Isabella Ramsey.
Jenna must have cleaned the room. On a table directly across from the door sat a framed photo of a family of four.
The woman in the photo with a sunny smile and a small mole near her eyebrow had to be Isabella Ramsey.
While Nina Jacobs was taking in her surroundings, Zoraida scurried under the bed. She emerged a moment later and handed Nina a phone with a shattered screen.
"What's this?"
Nina Jacobs found that the phone wouldn't turn on.
The battery must be dead.
"You want me to charge it for you?" Nina Jacobs asked.
Zoraida shook her head and said, "Naomi gave this to me. She told me to keep it safe."
