Can I be the one to… take her?"
She heard Holden Shaw asking Jonathan Thatcher for permission in a low voice not far away.
"You?
You've finally come to your senses, kid?"
Jonathan Thatcher glanced at Nina Jacobs.
His eyes revealed a hint of regret.
This girl was indeed a looker; he had planned on keeping her for himself tonight as a reward.
"Seeing as you've been so diligent and responsible these past few days,
I'll let you have her for tonight,
but I'm taking her back when you're done playing."
Jonathan Thatcher chuckled sleazily.
"Thanks, Thatcher."
A flicker of barely perceptible disgust crossed Holden Shaw's eyes as he turned and walked toward Nina Jacobs.
"I'll take you to where you'll be staying."
By now, Holden Shaw's expression had returned to normal.
Nina Jacobs looked at him but ultimately said nothing, simply following along.
