Chapter 29 - The Betrayer’s Name

The underground chamber was silent.

Luca stood frozen in the center of the room, staring at the man who had once been his gentle omega father.

Now he stood before him as the Underground King.

"My father destroyed our family?" Luca repeated slowly.

The King's golden eyes darkened.

"Yes."

Adrian leaned slightly against the wall, watching carefully. Even he looked tense.

Luca's voice sharpened.

"That doesn't make sense. My father was just a businessman."

A bitter smile appeared on the King's face.

"That's what he wanted you to believe."

He walked toward a long metal table and placed a thin folder on it.

"Your father wasn't just part of the Neon Syndicate."

Luca frowned.

"Then what was he?"

The King's voice became cold.

"He was one of its leaders."

Luca's chest tightened.

"No."

"Yes," the King replied calmly.

"Your father and I built the Syndicate together."

The words shocked Luca.

"You… worked together?"

"For years," the King said. "We were partners."

Adrian's eyes narrowed slightly.

"But power changes people."

The King slowly opened the folder and pushed it toward Luca.

"Read."

Luca hesitated, then picked up the papers.

Inside were old photographs and documents.

One photo showed the King standing beside a younger version of Luca's father.

They looked like allies.

Friends.

Another page showed financial records… secret bank accounts.

Weapons shipments.

Government bribes.

Luca's hands trembled slightly.

"So all of this… was real."

The King nodded.

"For a long time we ruled the underworld together."

Luca looked up.

"Then what happened?"

The King's expression hardened.

"Greed."

The room felt colder.

"Your father wanted complete control of the Syndicate," the King continued.

"But I refused."

"So he decided to remove the only person standing in his way."

Luca swallowed.

"What did he do?"

The King's voice dropped.

"He framed me."

Luca froze.

"For what?"

"For stealing the Syndicate's master key."

Adrian straightened slightly.

"That's impossible," he said. "Everyone believes you stole it."

The King smiled faintly.

"Exactly."

Luca felt his heart pounding.

"So the entire world thinks you betrayed the Syndicate…"

"…because my father made them believe it?"

"Yes."

The King leaned forward slightly.

"And while everyone hunted me…"

"…he took control of the Syndicate."

Luca's mind spun.

"That means…"

The King finished the sentence quietly.

"Your father is now the leader of the Neon Syndicate."

Silence filled the room.

Luca's fists slowly clenched.

The man who raised him…

The man who destroyed his omega father…

Was the most powerful enemy in the criminal world.

Adrian spoke quietly.

"If that's true… then the Syndicate will never stop hunting Luca."

The King nodded.

"Of course not."

He looked directly at Luca.

"Because Luca isn't just my son."

Luca frowned.

"What do you mean?"

The King's next words were calm but terrifying.

"He's the rightful heir to the Underground."

The weight of those words filled the room.

Luca felt the future pressing down on him.

Power.

War.

Revenge.

The King stepped closer.

"So now the question is simple."

Luca looked at him.

"What question?"

The King's golden eyes burned with quiet intensity.

"Will you stand beside me…"

"…or will you stand with the man who destroyed us?"

Luca looked down at the photograph of his father again.

For the first time in his life…

He felt something dangerous rising inside him.

Hatred.
