Mira bowed and left. Uriel stood and walked out of the study, his steps quick, his jaw tight. He found Lin Yue in the corridor outside the nursery, Auriel in her arms, her face pale but composed.
"They are here " she said.
"They are." He took her free hand and squeezed it. "Do not worry. I will be right beside you the whole time."
She nodded, but he could see the tension in her shoulders. "What do they want?"
"They want to see for themselves." He released her hand and placed his palm gently on Auriel's head. "I did not formally tell them about you. Or about him. But they know. They have always known. They came to see what kind of woman their son has chosen and what kind of child he has fathered."
Lin Yue swallowed. "And what do I tell them when they ask about me?"
