Alex reached for the syrup again, his fingers barely grazing Leo's.
They both stopped for a second—just long enough to notice.
Leo's gaze dipped, then met Alex's, and you could feel the silent charge hanging between them.
Alex tried to laugh it off. "So… you come here often?" His voice was light, but he honestly couldn't hide that flutter in his chest.
Leo rolled his eyes—yeah, okay, but the way he smiled at the corner of his mouth gave him away. "Only when the food's this good. And the company, I guess." He lingered there, just for a moment, then looked away, suddenly obsessed with his pancakes.
Alex leaned in, resting his elbow on the table, and kept his voice soft. "Company, huh? I'm flattered." He managed a shy smile, careful not to oversell it.
Leo laughed, shaking his head. "Don't get used to it. I can be brutally honest if I need to."
