"Good," he said, his voice softening. "I am your mate, and you are safe here." He offered her a reassuring smile. "My name is Dewan. I am the Alpha of the Moon Howlers, and you are in our infirmary, receiving the best care we can provide." He paused, letting his words sink in, then added gently, "If it's alright… may I ask your name?"
Nevaeh glanced down at her hands, her voice trembling as she whispered, "Nevaeh." The new, burning hole beside her severed bond had calmed slightly, its fierce intensity easing just enough for her to catch her breath.
"That is a very beautiful name," Dewan said, maintaining his gentle voice. He gestured toward a man standing just a few feet from her bed. "This is Silas, our head healer. He's the one who gave you the treatment you needed." Silas gave a respectful nod, and Nevaeh returned a small, hesitant one of her own.
