Jay's phone started ringing loudly against the nightstand, the vibration dragging him out of sleep in a rough, uncomfortable way. He groaned, turning halfway on the bed, one arm reaching blindly until his fingers hit the phone. He didn't even check the screen before answering,
A familiar voice came through immediately, too energetic for that hour. "Hey dude, good morning!"
Jay shut his eyes tighter, dragging a hand over his face. "Michael… what do you want?"
"I'm at your door."
Jay went still for a second.
"…What?"
"Open up."
Jay cursed under his breath and pushed himself up slowly. He wasn't fully awake yet, his body still heavy, his head not completely clear. He swung his legs off the bed, grabbed the nearest pair of shorts, and walked toward the door without bothering to fix anything else. His hair was messy, his chest bare, his eyes still half-lidded from sleep.
He unlocked the door and pulled it open.
