Chapter 23 - Episode 22 - The Planetary Notice

The sky remained parted, a celestial wound that refused to stitch itself back together. Light poured through the fracture; not burning, not blinding, but an unnatural, clinical illumination that made every shadow on Earth disappear.

The white sphere hovered at the dead center of the opening. When it spoke, the sound didn't come from the stadium or the speakers. It echoed from the air itself, resonating in every city, over every ocean, and across every desert. Every screen on the planet flickered to life; every device that had been dead a moment ago went silent to listen.

"Planetary Resonance Confirmed."

Across the world, those who had felt the surge, those who had spent the last hour glowing in gymnasiums, hospitals, and subways; looked up as the atmosphere seemed to crystallize.

"Integration into the Higher Framework has commenced."

The stadium was a tomb: no one breathed, no one dared to break the silence. Above them, a massive circular distortion began to ripple in the sky, like a stone dropped into a still pond of starlight.

Beyond the ripple was a glimpse of somewhere else; dark, jagged terrain as if it's an alien horizon. Massive, towering silhouettes shifted against a sky that was the color of a bruised lung.

"Gate Manifestation."

A collective gasp rippled through the candidates. Across the globe, identical rings of darkness appeared over major hubs. The same ring, the same terrifying depth.

"Spatial convergence between Earth and Outer Realms."

The projection widened, and a crowned silhouette stepped into the center of the frame. It didn't emerge; it just stood there, a towering presence of shadow and sharp edges, watching the world through the glass of reality.

"Demon-class entities will breach upon Gate stabilization."

Mira swallowed hard, her throat clicking in the silence. Garrick's knuckles went white as he clenched his fists. Lucien didn't look away, his face bathed in the golden light of the seam.

"First Gate breach within fifteen planetary cycles."

Fifteen days. The words weren't delivered with drama or malice; they were a mathematical fact.

The projection shifted again, flashing images like a global census of the supernatural. A hospital ward in London glowing a faint, medicinal blue. A rooftop in Seoul where the wind spiraled into a localized hurricane. A courtyard in Kyoto where red light flickered like a dying sun.

"Authority Candidates confirmed globally."

Names began to scroll across the sky—thousands, millions, a cascading waterfall of identities. Then, the individual confirmations began. It wasn't just happening in Korea; it was happening in every village and every skyscraper.

Lucien felt the warmth around his chest intensify, a hum of power that felt like a long-lost memory.

"Lucien Ardent. Authority Root: Michael. Archangelic Dominion."

His golden light flared; softly this time, a controlled radiation that seemed to settle into his skin.

"Seris Elowen. Authority Root: Raphael. Restorative Conduit."

A green shimmer pulsed once beneath Seris's skin, a vibrant, living light.

"Garrick Stonevale. Authority Root: Atlas. Titan Foundation."

The ground beneath Garrick's boots groaned. He looked heavier, more grounded, as if the earth itself had claimed him.

"Kaida Myrr. Authority Root: Nyx. Primordial Veil."

Her shadow rippled, detaching itself from her feet for a fraction of a second before sinking back into the concrete.

"Orion Vale. Authority Root: Artemis. Lunar Hunt."

A silver flash ignited in Orion's pupils, sharp and cold as a winter moon.

"Mira Solenne. Authority Root: Hecate. Threshold Summoner."

A faint, spectral crossroads sigil shimmered behind her head; a ghost of a crown that faded as quickly as it appeared.

Across the world, the sky was a roll call of legends. Thor. Anubis. Susanoo. Athena. Odin. Ra. The pantheons of humanity were being redistributed like weapons.

Then, the sphere pulsed.

"Nox Caelis."

The sky flickered, a violent ripple of white static tore across the sphere's surface: a brief, jagged distortion in the celestial broadcast.

Authority Root: Unregistered Classification: Unregistered

The voice didn't falter, but there was a beat of silence: a tiny, mechanical hesitation.

"Authority Root outside recognized mythological index."

No elaboration, no explanation; the sky simply moved on to the next command.

"Authority integration will manifest gradually."

Lucien exhaled a long, shaky breath. "So we aren't at full strength yet."

"No," Nox said, his eyes fixed on the static-filled entry of his own name. "We're just the blueprints."

"Gate coordinates will reveal at first breach," the voice intoned.

The projection of the crowned silhouette lingered for one final, chilling moment: a king surveying a new kingdom—before dissolving into the violet sky.

The clouds began to close. Not completely, but enough to hide the radiance. The silver scar remained, a permanent fixture of the new world. The white sphere dimmed, its final words vibrating through the marrow of every living thing on Earth.

"Prepare."

The light withdrew and the hum died.

Silence returned to the stadium, but it wasn't the silence of peace; instead it was the silence of a countdown. Around them, other candidates were starting to break. People were shaking, staring at their hands as if they were alien appendages. Some were calling home; others were laughing hysterically or sobbing into their palms.

The world had just been told it was being invaded, and that its only defense was a group of twenty-somethings who had just learned how to glow.

Lucien turned to Nox, his golden aura flickering once before steadying into a calm, resolute hum. "Fifteen days."

"Yes."

Lucien's jaw set, that familiar spark of leadership finally finding its purpose. "Then we don't waste a second. We need to train."

Above them, the scar in the sky pulsed faintly. And somewhere beyond that jagged silver line, something crowned was already sharpening its claws.
