Clarissa POV
"Honey… where is your wedding ring?"
That question seemed to pull a string in Miles' heart, because his eyes widened in an instant, followed by a nervous smile, like a boy who had been caught losing something precious in front of his mother.
"I—I lost it somewhere," Miles said nervously while trying to dodge my eyes.
Miles wasn't the brightest bulb in the shed, so spotting him lying wasn't difficult at all.
But why would he need to lie over mere wedding rings that he and Claudia once had? They were about to get a divorce anyway, and I would be the one wearing the wedding ring… until Ray proposed to me, of course.
However, I wouldn't lie that him losing that ring made me lose my appetite for him a bit, because that wedding ring was proof that I had defiled Claudia's sacred vow.
As long as Miles was wearing that ring, I could feel power over him and Claudia, because I was just better in every way than that boring skank!
