Chapter 14 - Chapter 13

Grayfia tried to pull her mask of professional stoicism back into place, her breath shaky. "We have only met twice, Reinhardt. How can you speak so clearly of my heart when even my closest friends do not know me?"

Reinhardt didn't back down. He looked at her with an intensity that seemed to peel away every layer of her defenses. "Being a Lucifuge has gains, Grayfia, but it has deeper losses. The Civil War is around the corner. Your clan is obliged to fight for those 'trash' descendants, regardless of whether you want to or not."

He stepped closer, his voice dropping into a solemn, heavy tone. "If they win, they won't compensate you. If they lose, you lose everything. All I see is a woman about to lose her home, her family, and herself—destined to become a tool for breeding or a corpse on a battlefield. You are lying to yourself, closing your heart to protect what's left of your soul."

Grayfia's eyes widened, her hands trembling.

"Your brother, Euclid? He's a lost cause," Reinhardt continued relentlessly. "He is devoted to a Lucifer line that is lazy and arrogant. And your father... regardless of the outcome, he will participate to uphold the family honor, and he will die. Why do you think he sent you here? He didn't send you to spy, Grayfia. He sent you to find protection. To find a man you could actually love."

He reached out, his warm palm cupping her cold cheek. The contrast made her shiver. "Now tell me, Grayfia. Even if you lie to me, can you lie to yourself? You've heard it from him, haven't you? 'Don't participate. Find someone.' Am I right?"

The reality hit her like a physical blow. The weight of her father's secret pleas, the hopelessness of her brother's fanaticism, and the lonely future she had been dreading all came rushing to the surface. Her composure shattered. The "Ice Queen" melted away, leaving only a frightened young woman.

Her eyes welled up, and the first tear traced a path down her cheek. She tried to speak, but her voice was trapped in her throat.

"Now tell me," Reinhardt whispered, his voice softening with genuine empathy. "Do you still think I don't see you clearly?"

Grayfia couldn't take it anymore. She broke, a sob escaping her lips as the tears began to flow freely. Seeing her vulnerability, Reinhardt didn't gloat or pull away. He stepped in and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her small frame tightly against his chest.

He held her there on the moonlit terrace, letting her cry into his suit, his hand gently stroking her silver hair to console her. For the first time in her life, Grayfia Lucifuge didn't have to be a soldier or a noble. She could just be a woman who was safe.

Grayfia is finally leaning on you for support.

While Reinhardt was providing a shoulder for Grayfia to cry on, the ripples of his actions in the ballroom had already reached the highest seats of power.

In the Bael Mansion, Zeckram and Darius were vibrating with a cold, lethal fury. Word had reached them: a descendant of Asmodeus had dared to call Astarion a "dog" and Reinhardt "trash."

The communication crystal flared to life, showing the equally enraged face of Caelus Phenex.

"Zeckram," Caelus growled, his voice trembling with the effort to contain his magic. "What should we do with that trash? He insulted my son-in-law in a room full of witnesses. The Phenex pride demands his blood."

"I am equally angry, Caelus," Zeckram replied, his eyes dark. "He insulted my son. But Reinhardt told me to leave him for now."

Caelus looked confused. "Leave him? Why?"

Zeckram proceeded to explain Reinhardt's master plan: how he intended to stay in the shadows, let the Civil War begin, and then systematically wipe out every clan involved in Astarion's death to build his own new power.

Caelus listened, his anger slowly turning into a calculating respect. "A new clan... a third pillar. I agree with it. Should we add our own political enemies to his 'list' as well? We can help him clear the path while he does the dirty work."

Zeckram nodded firmly. "Precisely. Let the boy hunt. We will manage the board."

The Moonlit Pact

Back on the terrace, Grayfia finally pulled back, wiping her eyes. She looked up at Reinhardt, her silver hair shimmering. "You... you called me by my name earlier. You knew who I was from the very start, didn't you?"

"One hundred percent," Reinhardt replied with a wink.

Grayfia's face flushed with a mix of embarrassment and mock anger. "You! You let me act like a fool! You knew!"

Reinhardt didn't flinch. He reached out and playfully pinched her nose. "Anger doesn't suit you, Grayfia. It ruins that beautiful face."

She pouted, her heart fluttering despite herself. "But you still lied to me! You teased me!"

"And what can I do for this beautiful lady to forgive me?" Reinhardt asked, leaning in closer.

Grayfia's eyes sharpened with curiosity. "Tell me the truth. Who caused that massive fire surge at the outskirts?"

Reinhardt raised an eyebrow. "And what would you do with that information?"

"I... I would have to report it to the Old Satan Faction," she said, though her voice lacked conviction.

Reinhardt leaned in, his lips inches from hers. "Then it remains... a secret."

"You're bullying me!" Grayfia pouted, feeling completely played.

Reinhardt chuckled, gently brushing her long silver hair behind her shoulder. "Yep. I am. What are you going to do about it?"

"I'll... I'll freeze you!" she threatened, her hands sparking with a tiny bit of ice magic.

"You already froze me with your beauty, Fia," Reinhardt countered.

"That's different!" she squeaked, blushing furiously.

"What's different?" Reinhardt asked softly. He didn't wait for an answer. He reached out, lifted her chin, and pressed his lips firmly against hers.

Grayfia froze in shock, her eyes wide for a split second before they fluttered shut. She didn't pull away. Instead, her hands found their way around his neck, pulling him closer. Reinhardt's hands slid down to her waist and then lower, giving her rear a firm, possessive squeeze.

"Mmph..." a soft moan escaped her lips into the kiss.

They finally pulled apart, both slightly breathless. Reinhardt looked her in the eye, a devious smirk on his face. "I have to say, Fia... your ass is just as juicy as your lips."

Grayfia's entire face turned a brilliant shade of red, her brain short-circuiting at the new nickname. "F-Fia...?"
