"Captain Qiao." Su Qing said quickly when she heard Qiao Wensong's voice. "I've discovered something about the missing persons case."
"What?!" Qiao Wensong's voice shot up at her words. "Didn't I tell you this case was too dangerous? That you were supposed to stay away from it?"
He glanced at the pitch-black night outside and grew even more frantic. "And you went looking for clues in the middle of the night? What would you have done if those people had found you? They're vicious, desperate criminals! They might even be armed. Do you have any idea how dangerous that is?"
A wave of fear washed over Qiao Wensong. "Where are you right now? Are you safe?"
"I'm at a police station in town." Su Qing was touched by his concern. "Don't worry," she said quickly, "I'm perfectly safe right now."
