"Wasn't it you who said you only stepped in to help the Sterling family because of Ivy?" Even in her old age, Hazel Sterling had lost none of her imposing presence.
Even a veteran of the business world like Brooke Morrison found the old woman's aura a bit overwhelming. But she had come prepared today and certainly wouldn't be cowed by a few words.
"What I mean is, Ivy is Carson's child, and I am Carson's current wife. Our connection is unbreakable. So, for her sake, I couldn't just stand by and do nothing. Besides, helping the Sterling family was a profitable venture. A win-win situation, so why not?"
Hazel Sterling's lips curled into a slight smile. "Your one and only virtue is that you dare to own up to your actions."
"Thank you for the compliment, Mrs. Sterling," Brooke Morrison said with a faint smile.
"This is for you." Hazel Sterling took a file folder from her desk drawer and placed it on the coffee table.
"What is this?" Brooke Morrison didn't move.
