He kept looking around curiously, occasionally turning back to check the cargo on the wagon, fascinated by everything around him.
Colin couldn't be bothered to disturb him, focusing instead on tinkering with the lenses.
An unknown amount of time passed.
Once he felt it was just right, Colin took out his Spellbook, cast another Spell on the lens, and then glued it to the inside of the Helmet's eye slit.
Colin carefully examined the Helmet he had modified.

The Darkvision range had doubled. The modification was a success.
Colin could craft other pieces of equipment as well, but he'd have to spend money on materials.
