The female Beastman looked a little old and seemed vaguely familiar, but she probably wasn't someone the body's previous owner knew well.
She searched her memories for a long time but couldn't place her.
'You want me to go to the Witch Cave to see her now? What could possibly be so important?'
'No matter how important it is, it can't get in the way of my meal. I'm starving!'
"The Witch Doctor got a female stone and wants you to go over and test your fertility again. It won't take long. Just come with me."
The Witch Cave was not far from the square. Bai Wanwan glanced over. "Do I really have to go right now?"
"If you want to finish your meat jerky first, that's fine. I can wait."
The older female Beastman planted herself to the side, just staring at the two of them without saying a word to hurry them.
With the woman staring at her like that, Bai Wanwan's plan to go back and eat her roasted meat was ruined.
'Forget it. If I don't go today, I'll probably have to make a detour and go tomorrow anyway.'
'In that case, I'll just go and come back quickly, then I can eat my roasted meat at home.'
She turned her head and said to Xin Feng, "You wait for me then. I'll be right back."
As she finished speaking and was about to get up, Xin Feng grabbed her hand. "Do you want me to come with you?"
Bai Wanwan smiled and shook her head. "It's just a few steps. No need, I'll be back in a flash."
From where they were sitting, they could see the Witch Doctor Cave. It was a journey of only a few minutes round-trip, but if she had to help him along, it would probably take them twenty minutes.
Xin Feng was aware of his own condition and let go of her hand. "Alright, I'll wait for you then."
After letting Xin Feng know, she stood up straight and said to the older female beside her, "Let's go."
After walking for a minute or two, the noise from behind them slowly faded as they entered an alley between two rows of stone houses.
Just as she stepped inside, Bai Wanwan stopped in her tracks.
Looking at the pitch-dark path ahead, she suddenly felt a prickle of unease.
'Something's not right!'
'Why does this setup feel so familiar?'
'It's like something straight out of a TV drama.'
'Could there be some sort of plot waiting for me?'
"Wanwan, why have you stopped walking?"
Bai Wanwan didn't answer. She glanced back. The nearest Beastmen were at least one or two hundred meters away.
It was still very noisy over there; she wasn't sure if anyone would hear her even if she screamed her lungs out.
She turned back, trying her best to appear calm. "I suddenly feel really hungry. I think I'll go back and eat that Unicorn meat before heading to the Witch Doctor Cave."
With that, she turned and started walking back toward the square.
But she hadn't taken two steps before the female grabbed her hand. "Wanwan, we've come all this way. What are you going back for? After I take you there, I have other things to do."
"Then go do your other things. I'll go find the Witch Doctor myself in a little while."
Not only did the older female not let go, she gripped even tighter, pulling her toward the alley. "No. You're coming with me now. I can't be bothered to call for you a second time."
After being dragged for two steps, Bai Wanwan snapped.
She tried to violently shake off the other's hand, but the woman had clearly anticipated it, gripping her in a deathly tight grasp that was impossible to break.
"Let go! You're hurting me."
"Come with me, and I'll let go."
Bai Wanwan nodded. "Alright! Then let go."
The female completely ignored her, just pulling her forward. "We go to the Witch Doctor Cave first, then I'll let go."
'A moment ago, I just had a creeping suspicion, but now I'm one hundred percent certain.'
'TV dramas don't lie! A Beastman really is trying to harm me!'
'Since you're trying to harm me, don't blame me for what comes next!'
Without another word, she lifted her foot and kicked the other woman squarely in the stomach.
"OOF!"
The older female cried out in pain, her hand instinctively letting go to clutch her stomach.
Bai Wanwan, now free, turned and ran.
She had only taken two steps before crashing into a wall of flesh, the pain making her hiss.
Chou Rong pulled the female who had crashed into him away, and only when he looked down did he realize it was Bai Wanwan.
"What are you doing here?"
Bai Wanwan hadn't expected to run into Chou Rong here either, and her eyes lit up with wild joy.
She grabbed Chou Rong's arm. "Chou Rong, there's something wrong with this female! She was trying to trick me into going in there."
The older female panicked. She hadn't expected another Beastman to be wandering around outside at this time.
After listening, Chou Rong's gaze shifted to the older female beside them. "Where were you trying to take her?"
With Chou Rong here, Bai Wanwan wasn't in a hurry to leave anymore.
Feeling inexplicably emboldened, she also turned back to look at the older female.
She seemed to be very timid. The moment Chou Rong questioned her, panic was written all over her face, and her eyes darted around nervously.
"I... I didn't! It was the Witch Doctor... who wanted to see her. That's why I called her over."
Bai Wanwan snorted. "You're lying! If the Witch Doctor wanted to see me, it could have waited until tomorrow. I told you I wanted to go back, so why did you grab me and try to force me to go?"
"I..." The older female's mind went blank.
Unable to say anything, she turned and ran.
'But Bai Wanwan was ready for that!'
Seeing her try to run, she shot off in pursuit.
After catching up, she grabbed the other's Beast Skin Skirt. "Where do you think you're going? I'm not finished talking."
Now that Chou Rong was here, the tables had turned. She had the upper hand, so of course, she had to get to the bottom of things.
'That's the only way to avoid this danger next time.'
"You're not leaving until you explain yourself!"
Bai Wanwan yanked hard on the other's Beast Skin Skirt, giving her no chance to escape.
"Chou Rong, let me borrow the Stone Knife on your waist."
Bai Wanwan's words made the older female struggle violently.
"Bai Wanwan, what are you doing? I'm a female too! If you hurt me, the Clan Leader won't let you get away with it."
Bai Wanwan laughed. "Won't let me get away with it? Have you forgotten that I'm a Holy Female? Even if I killed you, the most the Clan Leader would do is scold me. He wouldn't punish me."
This was the rule of the Beastman World: females were more precious than males, and a Holy Female was above all other females.
The older female immediately turned her head to look at Chou Rong.
"Chou Rong, don't give her the Stone Knife!"
Chou Rong watched the two of them struggle for a long while before walking forward. His gaze swept over Bai Wanwan's face, and then he drew his Stone Knife and handed it to her.
Bai Wanwan was a little surprised; she hadn't expected him to actually give her the knife.
She reached out, took it, and pressed it directly against the older female's neck.
"Are you going to talk or not? If you don't, I'll slit your throat."
"DON'T!"
Chou Rong took two steps back, watching her from a distance. "Don't worry. If she kills you, I won't just leave you in the mountains to be eaten by wild beasts. I'll bury you."
The older female's face instantly turned ashen.
Bai Wanwan pressed the Stone Knife even tighter against her neck.
"Are you going to talk? This is your last chance."
The older female screamed in terror, "I'll talk, I'll talk!"
Bai Wanwan didn't lower the knife. "Then talk fast. Don't waste my time. I still have to get back to my meat."
Her words made Chou Rong, standing nearby, glance at her from the corner of his eye.
Meanwhile, in the Witch Doctor Cave, the Witch Doctor and the Xin Shan brothers had been waiting for so long they were getting restless.
"Bro, how about I go take a look? It's been so long, why isn't she here yet?"
"You just wait here in the Witch Cave. I'll go."
After speaking, Xin Shan strode out of the Witch Cave and walked toward the square.
He hadn't gone far before he saw the three people in a standoff at the alley entrance.
"Wanwan, put the Stone Knife down. I'll tell you what you want to know."
