The assistant hadn't expected Gabriel to remember him, much less generously offer him a bottle of water.
He lowered his head, not daring to look at Gabriel.
"Did you say thank you?" Gabriel's expression suddenly turned serious.
The assistant and Nina both looked up.
Seeing their reactions, Gabriel said with surprising patience, "Nina, I'm asking you. Did you thank my assistant?"
"I..." Nina's eyes filled with confusion. "Why should I thank him?"
"My assistant drove you back. Doesn't that deserve at least a 'thank you'?"
Gabriel was very protective of his people.
Their party had arrived about forty minutes after Chloe. In all that time, Nina hadn't even bought his assistant a bottle of water.
He grew angrier just thinking about it.
He wanted to call the new assistant over, but for a moment, he couldn't recall the man's name. After a pause, his voice softened a little. "Why are you still standing next to her? She's so cheap, it's not like she's the one paying your salary."
