Shirley Thorne remembered how Meredith Rowan had tried to manipulate her. The argument was that Ethan Grant would never allow a divorce, just to save face. And if she wanted to get away, her best move was to saddle him with the "wife-jinx" reputation again.
After all, it was Shirley Thorne who was largely responsible for getting rid of his wife-jinx reputation. Therefore, she shouldn't feel any guilt about throwing it back at him.
