Chapter 41 - Ruppongi

Kugisaki Nobara was standing infront of the three boys and judging them.

Yuji welcomed her and megumi greeted her.

But it was obviously not liked by the bob head.

"You look like a potato. And you look like you would burn seagulls for fun."

Nobara pointed at Yuji and megumi.

Sora found the situation hilarious. The emotions were displayed through the upward curve of the edges of mouth.

Nobara was keen in her observation when she turned to Sora.

"And he looks like he wants to go home and play games and watch girls."

Nobara described Sora as if she was berating him.

She got him half right.

Want to go home?

Yes.

Watch girls?

That hobby was left behind.

Sora felt his facial muscle twitch.

Such accute description.

Was this the women intuition?

Nobara however was not finished talking.

"Atleast he looks responsible."

She quickly followed up.

"Anyway. I am Kugisaki Nobara. Its a great honour for you boys to have me in your team."

Nobara was haughty in her introduction.

Sora found it rather annoying but bearable.

To be honest, also rather hot.

This feeling was something he had developed for pretty much every female he knew and searched in the show.

But nobody will know this.

Yuji however became very defensive of the groups pride.

Perhaps Nobara said something bad since Yuji and Nobara were doing their siblings fight.

He could care less.

---

"Since the introductions are over, let's go to our next destination!"

Gojo playfully entered the conversation.

"Tokyo tour trip!!"

"Tokyo! Tokyo!"

Nobara and Yuji were quick to change.

One moment fighting and in the other celebrating.

---

The city unfolded like a stage set just for them.

Neon signs, glass towers, crowds that moved like restless tides.

Tokyo in full display.

Satoru Gojo walked ahead, hands in his pockets, voice light.

"Welcome to your first official Tokyo outing."

Yuji Itadori practically bounced beside him.

"Seriously?! A trip already?!"

Nobara Kugisaki's eyes sparkled as she spun slightly, taking in everything.

"I knew moving to Tokyo was the right decision."

Behind them—

Megumi Fushiguro walked quietly.

He didn't dislike the feeling of going on a trip.

Beside him—

Sora.

Hands in pockets.

Waiting for the inevitable outcome of finding dissappointed in the happy duo infront of him.

Megumi glanced at him briefly.

—Roppongi—

The city changed again.

From glowing buildings and alive stores to a desolate ruin.

They walked.

Turned corners.

Passed through streets that slowly lost their shine.

Until they arrived at their location.

The noise lost its power.

And what replaced it was silence.

An abandoned section of Roppongi.

Buildings were worn down.

Paintjob was peeling.

Air heavy with dust and sadness.

A rundown structure stood with even more radiating negative energy.

Yuji blinked.

Nobara's face twisted instantly.

"Don't tell me—"

Gojo turned smiling.

---

"Itadori-kun. Kugisaki-kun."

"This is your first mission..."

"You'll be exorcising the cursed spirits inside that haunted building."

Gojo pointed at the haunted building.

"..."

"..."

Then-

"WHAT?!"

Both voices overlapped perfectly.

Yuji pointed accusingly.

"THIS ISN'T A TRIP! You said this a trip!"

Nobara snapped.

"YOU BROUGHT ME HERE FOR WORK?!"

Gojo tilted his head and hands on his ears.

"Surprise?"

Sora looked away slightly.

"Hehe. Called it."

Nobara turned sharply.

"Why are we going in?!"

Yuji nodded immediately.

"Yeah! What about them?!"

He pointed at Sora and Megumi.

Gojo raised a finger.

"Megumi is still injured."

A glance to Sora.

"And Sora…"

A small smile.

"…is too much for a Grade 3 to handle."

A pause.

Megumi's gaze lowered slightly.

Sora blinked.

"…Too much?"

He was almost a grade 2 sorcerer by reserves alone.

But that was it?

Why was he too much?

Gojo chuckled.

"You'll understand later."

Then—

He gestured lazily around them.

"This area is in close proximity to a cemetery."

A beat.

"Negative energy builds up easily in places like this."

His gaze shifted to the building.

"Fear. Death. Regret."

"All of it leaks."

"And something eventually forms to what we are seeing right now."

Silence.

The building stood there.

The gate was slightly open.

Darkness pooled inside like ink.

Nobara huffed slightly.

Yuji swallowed.

"…So we just go in?"

Gojo smiled brightly.

"Yep."

Nobara cracked her knuckles.

"…Fine."

Yuji took a breath.

"…Let's do it."

Gojo then took out a sheathed blade.

"Take this Itadori. This is demon slaughter. A cursed tool for you to kill them."

Yuji took the weapon and silent nodded.

He turned to Nobara who was already leaving.

He ran to catch up.

They stepped forward together.

The moment they crossed the boundary—

The air shifted inside.

The entrance swallowed light itself.

Behind them stood-

Gojo watching.

Still smiling.

Waving at them.

Sora stood beside him now.

Eyes fixed on the building.

---

"…You're testing them. Aren't you Gojo sensei?"

Gojo didn't deny it.

"Of course."

Inside—

The darkness stirred.

And the real lesson had begun.
