Matteo let out a soft, relieved breath, a crushing weight lifting from his shoulders. He gently cupped Adrian's face, his heart pounding against his ribs.
"Does this mean you've forgiven me?" he asked hopefully. "Are we back together, Rian?"
Adrian looked at him seriously. "Will I still be allowed to go out with my friends? And if I want to go somewhere by myself, will you let me?"
Matteo hesitated for only a heartbeat before nodding.
"Yes," he answered honestly. "But my bodyguards will keep an eye on you from a distance. They won't interfere. They'll only be there for your safety."
"So… I'll be staying home and working from home for now?"
Matteo nodded. "Yes. Just for now. That way, I won't lose my mind until the place I'm preparing for you is ready."
Adrian frowned, confusion flickering across his face.
"What do you mean by that?"
Instead of answering, Matteo gently lifted Adrian's chin until their eyes met.
