"Don't," Adrian pleaded, but with a stubborn edge that brooked no argument. "I'm not going to the hospital, Maya. If they admit me, I'll miss your wedding. I've got my medication here. I'll be fine."
"Why the hell are you being so stubborn?" Maya shouted. "We're talking about your health!"
Adrian let out a small, weary breath that almost sounded like a broken laugh.
"Because we've talked about this day for years, Maya. We've been waiting for this moment for so long. I'm not missing your wedding for anything in the world."
Hearing the unyielding determination in her brother's voice, Maya let out a defeated sigh. She knew there was no changing his mind when he was like this.
"Fine," she groaned. "But if you won't go to the hospital, at least come over to my place. Let me take care of you properly."
