Karsten Ritter von Neunil was originally from Eldenmark, a cadet branch of the Neunil family. As I understood it, he had been adopted because the main line had no suitable candidate for the position of commander of the Grand Duke's Guard.
But to think he had betrayed Viscount Neunil...
