Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Calling Him by Name

After breakfast, the two of them cleaned up together.

There really was a bit of that newlywed couple feeling in the air.

"Kurumi, you still have class today, right?" Shun asked.

She nodded with a troubled look. "Yeah."

"Then I will walk you there," he said. "And take a look at your school while I am at it."

"Take a look at my school?"

Kurumi stared at him, confused. She did not understand why he suddenly wanted to see where she studied.

Shun put the washed bowl back into the cupboard. "From what I can see now, you and that curse are not exactly strangers. I want to know more about where you spend your everyday life."

Hearing that, Kurumi gave him a teasing look. "Are you sure you are not just using that as an excuse to get to know me so you can chase me?"

"Heh."

Shun knocked her lightly on the head. "I do not have that kind of free time."

"You never know," Kurumi puffed her cheeks. "Hmph, one day you will be begging me to be your girlfriend."

"Oh? I will wait for that day then."

Shun sounded completely unconcerned.

Beg a girl to be his girlfriend?

There was no universe where that would happen to him.

He might have plenty of issues, but his overall conditions were more than good enough. Why would he ever need to beg for a girlfriend?

What a joke.

"Hmph."

"Let us grab a taxi," he said, checking the time. "It should be about that time."

Kurumi tilted her head. "How do you know what time it is for me to leave?"

"Do not all high school classes start around the same time?" Shun asked back. "Unless your school forces everyone to arrive extra early."

"That is not it. It is just strange that you know it so clearly." Kurumi glanced at him curiously, then asked, "Come to think of it, how old are you, Gojo San?"

"Me? I am a high schooler."

Shun answered lightly.

"Eh? Ehh?!"

Kurumi's eyes went wide.

"You are a high schooler?!"

She looked him up and down.

With that build and that aura, he did not look like a high school student at all.

At her overreaction, Shun gestured for her to calm down.

"Well, if you spend your days fighting monsters, you are going to be a bit different from a normal student, especially when I am not in uniform."

In general, all the students at Jujutsu High were pretty mature.

Without a school uniform, you would never guess they were in high school.

"Look at those idols who debut in their teens," Shun added. "They do not exactly match their age either."

Kurumi's expression was complicated, tangled. "When you put it that way, I guess it makes sense, but still..."

"Still what?"

She moved closer with a grin.

"How about I just call you Shun from now on."

"Since we are the same age afterall…."

"Call me whatever you want," he said. "It is only a name."

He had none of that overblown Japanese fussiness about people using his given name.

"It feels like you are already used to girls calling you that," Kurumi muttered.

Shun nodded.

Kurumi quickly brightened again. "In exchange, from now on you can call me Kurumi. Or even Kuro-mi, if you like."

"Alright." Shun nodded. "We should get going or you will be late."

Kurumi suddenly seemed to deflate a little.

She sighed. "In manga, this kind of first name basis moment is a really big emotional milestone for the leads, you know. Shun, you are way too indifferent."

"Only idiots obsess over things like that," Shun said with a dry little laugh.

"..."

Kurumi did not want to talk anymore. Cheeks puffed out, she went back to grab her schoolbag.

What an utterly unromantic, infuriating man.

She had just left the room when his phone rang.

"Uncle?"

Shun frowned at the caller ID.

Why was Gojo Satoru calling at this hour?

He picked up.

"Morning, Shun. Did you sleep well last night without me there to keep you company?"

The moment the call connected, Satoru's annoyingly cheerful voice came through.

"Did you need something, Uncle?"

Right now, the best response was to ignore the fluff.

That was a survival skill Shun had honed over many years of dealing with Satoru.

Sometimes he did not mind bantering with him, but now was clearly not the time.

"Well, Shun, Megumi just arrived in Sendai City too."

Shun's brows knit. "Fushiguro Megumi? What is he doing here?"

"Picking up a cursed object," Satoru replied. "Seems like it is near you. As his senior, I'm asking you to look after him a bit."

"After all, that kid is still far too inexperienced."
