Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: You Really Are a Pervert, Aren’t You?!

Shun said, "You know what is happening over there, right?"

Kurumi nodded.

There was still a trace of panic on her face.

From the ruined building all the way back home, she had kept up that cheery, "I am fine, I am optimistic" attitude, but she had just made a round trip to the gates of hell.

It was her first time encountering something that terrifying.

How could a normal person really be calm enough to sleep soundly after that?

Now, another cursed spirit battle had erupted out there.

If the Kurumi standing in front of him truly were an ordinary person, then mentally she really might not be able to handle it.

Shun gently ran his hand through her smooth hair.

"Relax," he said. "Those monsters cannot get in here."

"Really?"

Kurumi looked up at him, eyes shimmering, her voice small and weak.

At some point, her eyes had reddened all around the rims.

Night really was a strange time.

In the daytime, even if something huge shook you to your core, you could still force yourself to hold on.

At night, the slightest breeze, the tiniest sound, and all the fear you suppressed during the day came roaring back.

Shun nodded, answering her with complete seriousness. "I swear on my reputation, no curse is getting in here."

Kurumi let out a soft snort and glared at him playfully. "Do you even have something like a reputation?"

The corner of his mouth twitched. "You are making me want to throw you out."

"Not allowed."

She suddenly tightened her arms around his waist.

The moment she hugged him, Kurumi herself froze in mild surprise, and a lot of the fear from just now melted away.

"Hey, your waist is really slim. For someone built this strong."

Her hand slid over his abdomen, fingers wandering up and down.

Shun rolled his eyes and slapped her hand away. "You really are a shameless pervert."

"Ehehe."

Her eyes were still red, but her expression had relaxed a lot.

"Mm... I am scared, you know."

She stuck both arms out again, asking for another hug.

If earlier it had been genuine fear, now it was at least half her messing around.

Shun looked at the petite girl in front of him and gave a cold little laugh.

He stretched out his arms as well. "Come here then."

"Eh?!"

Kurumi stared, stunned.

Clearly she had not expected him to go along with it.

Before she could react, Shun had already taken the initiative and pulled her into his arms.

"...???"

Her whole face was full of question marks.

What was with Gojo Shun all of a sudden?

Why was he hugging her out of nowhere?

Did he finally awaken to something?

But his expression just now did not match that idea at all.

Even so, the moment she felt his arms close around her, Kurumi's heart calmed down dramatically.

Compared to her, he was big, and she was very small.

With one pull, he wrapped her up completely.

He was warm, and the feeling was incredibly safe.

The panic that the cursed spirits had stirred in her settled completely for a moment.

"Get some good sleep," Shun's voice murmured by her ear.

His tone was low and magnetic, so pleasant it felt like her ears might get pregnant just listening.

The words themselves seemed to carry magic.

As soon as he said them, Kurumi felt her eyelids grow heavy.

Combined with the comfort of his embrace, she lost her strength in just a few seconds and let her eyes drift closed.

Watching her breathing gradually steady, Shun shook his head.

He carefully laid her down on the bed.

The voice he had used just now carried a degree of word-spell effect, similar to Toge Inumaki's cursed speech.

It was much weaker than Toge's, of course.

He could only bring it out under certain favorable conditions.

Which was perfectly normal. That was Toge's livelihood, a power he had honed who knew how long. There was no way a half-baked amateur like Shun could compete.

Even so, being able to use it to create a hypnosis-like effect was enough to satisfy him.

He gently settled the blanket over her.

Then Shun glanced once more toward the still-turbulent distance and stepped out of the room.

Before leaving, he had already set a barrier on the room, keyed so that curses could not enter.

For truly powerful curses, like the cursed Kurumi, it would not do much, but if someone tried to force their way in, the time it took to break the barrier would be enough for him to get there.

Once outside, Shun opened his Six Eyes.

The cursed energy reaction in that direction exploded in clarity the instant his vision sharpened.

"They really do not know how to stay quiet," he muttered, shaking his head.

The next second, his figure vanished from the corridor.

Using Limitless, he compressed the space between himself and his destination, achieving something close to folding the distance beneath his feet.

It was perfect for travel.

He would still need to work a bit harder if he wanted to reach Gojo Satoru's level, though.
