Chapter 3 - 3

It's possible he's a three-second man, after all, a shooting genius, and there's no stopping him from shooting fast. That's why he was so concerned and sensitive about Rebecca's teasing.

"..."

"How can a man say no to himself!"

"I was just testing the approximate bullet drop distance of the gun. This time it's for real, Rebecca. Throw the frisbee again. I'm serious this time, don't be scared!"

Perhaps sensing the original body's anger,

Javier quickly shouted back to Rebecca in the distance, telling her to prepare to throw the frisbee again. This time was completely different from before; he could truly feel that innate shooting talent had returned.

"Click—"

The pistol was reloaded.

This time, Javier relaxed his mind, his expression less wary, his gaze calmly directed forward. He had completed this level of training before, so there was no need to be nervous. Believing in his high-intensity training experience, day and night, was enough.

"Humph,"

"Here it comes!"

And in the distance,

Seeing Javier still being stubborn, Rebecca indulged his desire to try again, huffed, and instantly threw the red frisbee high into the air again. She didn't believe Javier could hit it on a second try. After all, it was still the same saying: pistol shooting at a hundred-meter moving target, wanting to hit it… was completely wishful thinking, basically as low as winning the lottery.

But…

Javier's original body stated that

He had long since thoroughly analyzed the lottery's winning probability and calculation methods, so this kind of hundred-meter moving target pistol shooting, like winning the lottery, was not a particularly difficult task for him; it could be accomplished with ease!

"Buzz…"

The striking red frisbee was thrown into the air,

Like a beautiful parabolic arc, while Javier decisively raised his Glock 22, squinting his eyes, directly locking onto the target. The black muzzle of the Glock 22 moved slightly, and the solution process, like a complex equation, instantly appeared in his mind, instantly calculating the correct bullet impact point.

"Bang—"

"Boom—!!!"

Pulling the trigger,

The gun fired, and a bright orange bullet shot out, carrying a large amount of air turbulence and flame, like a fleeting white horse. The bullet steadily pierced through the red frisbee thrown into the air. The entire frisbee was shattered through the middle, scattering into pieces in the air, falling onto the grass with a crisp sound.

It was undoubtedly a hit—!

"This…"

"How is this possible? Is it luck? Or is it…"

Seeing the frisbee completely shattered this time, Rebecca, who had originally intended to continue making things difficult for Javier, froze slightly. A somewhat incredulous expression appeared on her cute doll-like face.

No way… this was too unbelievable. She had never seen anyone with such amazing marksmanship in her time in the police force, able to accurately hit a moving target from a hundred meters away. No wonder this guy was exceptionally recruited by S.T.A.R.S. She didn't expect him to be truly that amazing!

"Hey, Javier,"

"Again…!!!"

Without hesitation,

Rebecca called out to Javier again, decisively throwing another red frisbee into the air. This time, the speed was faster, and the direction was even more tricky and random.

But…

"Bang—"

"Bang—Bang—Bang—!!!!"

Red frisbees flew out one after another,

And gunshots slowly rang out. Even so, each of those red frisbees was hit by Javier's shooting genius-like talent, all of them hit by bullets and shattered into countless pieces, scattering onto the ground.

At this moment,

Rebecca, the little girl, finally understood that Javier was not lying, and this shooting talent was indeed not luck, but truly very impressive!

After shooting all these hundred-meter red frisbees, Javier slowly relaxed his tensed hand. The cooperation with his original body was so good that Javier was overly exhausted, and his entire palm was still trembling slightly, as if he had snorted cocaine, which was absurd.

"Phew!"

"What amazing shooting talent! Here! You brat… the Magnum handgun you wanted. When I participated in World War II, I wasn't as good as you, kid. Every shot hit… one gun could eliminate several enemies. Very good,"

"I heard S.T.A.R.S got a very talented shooter. It seems they were talking about you. But don't get cocky. This is just against targets… if you face live people, you also have to be as ruthless as today when shooting!"

Just as Javier put down the pistol and slumped into the chair,

Hock, who had been watching the performance for a long time, suddenly spoke up in admiration. He had been there for a while, but Javier was too focused to notice him. Hock placed the Desert Eagle and M500 Revolver that Javier had purchased on the table, but fearing Javier would get carried away, he couldn't help but warn him while admiring him.

After all…

Shooting and killing are clearly different.

The S.T.A.R.S team's mission is to deal with the extremely vicious criminals in Raccoon City. When facing those damned guys, you absolutely cannot show mercy. You must be like today, hitting their heads with every shot.

Otherwise,

Showing mercy to enemies

Is cruelty to oneself!

Javier, realizing what Hock was saying, paused slightly, then nodded in understanding. Not only when facing people, but also when facing those terrifying zombies, Javier would pull the trigger without the slightest hesitation.

And as his gaze slowly shifted,

To the two pistols on the table, Javier showed a satisfied smile. The thick grip, the all-alloy gun body, beautifully designed, full of power, plus the extremely reassuring.50 caliber Magnum bullets—this was the Magnum Desert Eagle. Even when facing mutated zombies, Javier felt much more secure.

After all, one shot could take down a deer from two hundred meters away, and close-range instant kills of black bears or rhinos were easy tasks. It was even possible to instantly kill an elephant.

The other M500 Revolver,

Was also very massive and incredibly tough. With its silver-black color scheme, the single revolver barrel alone was 26 centimeters, and its total length was 45.7 centimeters. If you put it in your pocket, others might think you had a donkey's large bird hidden inside. It was still a.50 caliber bullet, and the cylinder could only hold five rounds. Its power was significantly greater than the Desert Eagle.

If the Desert Eagle might not be able to take down an elephant, then this M500 Revolver absolutely could. Its immense power certainly lived up to its reputation as a "hand cannon."

"..."

"The pistols are good… they suit my taste."

Looking at the Magnum pistols Hock handed over, Javier nodded in satisfaction. Now he wouldn't have to worry. As for our beloved Glock 22, he could throw it anywhere. This thing was great for fighting criminals, but not so good against zombies.

"Hey, hey!"

"You're amazing, Javier! Where did you learn those skills? Your shooting ability is so incredible! Can you teach me? I also want to learn how to accurately hit a moving target from a hundred meters away!"

While Javier and Hock were chatting, Rebecca, the little girl, quickly ran back, directly massaging Javier's shoulders with her small hands on his back, asking with a sly smile, as if trying to gain an advantage.

This girl,

Changed her expression faster than anyone.

She had just been mocking Javier's shooting skills, and now she was trying to get close to him. Regarding this… Javier could only say that Rebecca was just a child; her emotions came and went quickly. Seeing cool shooting skills, she couldn't help but want to learn and ask for guidance.

However, Javier had no way to do so.

Although he really wanted to teach Rebecca, the shooting skills were accumulated through the original body's continuous training day and night, and he himself had not experienced any of it. He couldn't teach anything at all; his talent could only be used by himself and couldn't be passed on to outsiders…

But,

Although he couldn't teach,

He could trick… After all, Javier wasn't good at anything else, but he was very skilled at tricking people. With his eloquent tongue, he could definitely trick Rebecca, the little girl, into being completely obedient! This way, he would have another little fangirl following him around!

"Yes…"

"But the training is very tough, Rebecca, can you stick with it?"

"And teaching lessons isn't free, ahem… you should know that!"

Enjoying the little girl Rebecca's small hand massage, Javier slowly opened one eye, narrowed, and said lightly,

"Huh?"

"Then what do you want? Money… or guns? I don't have that much money on me, nor any good collector's firearms. I joined S.T.A.R.S simply because the police department valued my potion mixing and medical skills."

Facing Javier's demand,

Rebecca's expression froze slightly. She hadn't expected Javier to charge for teaching her shooting skills. And unfortunately, she didn't have much money or valuable items on her. Even the S.T.A.R.S police department only valued her for her medical skills, which is why Rebecca didn't want to be looked down upon and wanted to practice her shooting skills more.

Otherwise—

She would be called a useless vase by the S.T.A.R.S members.

And hearing this,

Javier showed a disdainful look.

A vase… Rebecca's cute doll-like face was more like a tomboy. At most, she was a mascot, not a vase at all. If Jill from next door became useless, then she could barely be called a vase.

Moreover,

No wonder all the Bravo Team members died in the Resident Evil 0 storyline. It turns out that little girl Rebecca was a medic and healer. But with her chest, which was like small milk bottle jelly, she couldn't heal anyone. With such a little girl acting as a healer, it's a wonder the Bravo Team didn't all die. At least they needed a healer with extremely fierce headlights.

"Ahem, what I mean is you have to listen to me! Not money. Just give me a good shoulder massage, and don't interrupt me when I'm showing off during missions, then I might teach you shooting skills for free,"

Facing Rebecca's confusion, Javier quickly explained. If this little girl could just be a bit more obedient and not act rebellious or like a leaky cotton jacket, it would be enough. After all, they were partners. What if she accidentally got him killed during a mission?

Meanwhile, on the other side,

Outside Raccoon City, Akeley Mountains—

Underground Cadre Training Institute,

This was once the Institute of James Marcus, one of the founders of the Umbrella Corporation, also known as Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. However, due to certain events, the Institute here had been sealed for many years.

The origin of the T-Virus is from West Africa, the western part of the African continent, extracted from a flower called "Sun Ladder Flower" found in the ruins of the Dibaya Tribe. This flower contains an RNA-based viral substance that can enhance human abilities (including physical strength, mobility, etc.) and extend human lifespan.

However, accompanying these functions is the highly toxic nature of this substance. Few people can withstand this toxicity and ultimately die. Because of the existence of this substance, the "Sun Ladder Flower" has always been regarded as a "sacred object" by the local Dibaya Tribe and was used as a test for "king selection" in ancient times.

After discovering the Sun Ladder Flower during an adventure in Africa, Oswell E. Spencer, one of Umbrella's founders, believed he had found the key to life. To study this flower, Spencer invited his noble friend Edward Ashford and his university classmate, biology expert James Marcus, to jointly establish the Umbrella Corporation.

And then…

The virus strain was successfully extracted from the Sun Ladder Flower and was first named the Progenitor Virus. After a long time, due to a virus leak, one of Umbrella's founders, Edward Ashford, suddenly passed away, and most of Umbrella Corporation's power fell into Spencer's hands.

Initially, Marcus did not care about power. He only wanted to continue his research. To address the high threshold for Progenitor Virus compatibility and the high mortality rate upon injection, Marcus continued to study the flaws of the Progenitor Virus.

Later, perseverance paid off. Marcus discovered that leech DNA could combine with the Progenitor Virus, and he extracted a new heterogeneous substance. Marcus named this new heterogeneous substance the "T" Virus (taken from the first letter of Tyrant).

However, the T-Virus was unstable and still had many flaws, such as the host being uncontrollable, the virus causing skin ulceration due to rapid cell growth and brain nerve damage, and its excessively high infectivity, which troubled Marcus. Therefore, Marcus decided to continue perfecting the T-Virus.

In the subsequent period, as Marcus became fanatical about perfecting the "T" Virus, his personality gradually became distorted. He was no longer satisfied with merely experimenting on animals but set his sights on humans.

Soon, 20 candidate cadres died in his hands at the Cadre Training Institute. This incident eventually alarmed Spencer. The ambitious Spencer began to send people to monitor Marcus's every move, wanting to seize the T-Virus for himself.

On February 11, 1978, the Laboratory entrance was destroyed. Marcus tried to seek help from his students William Birkin and Albert Wesker, but he never expected that these two unfilial disciples had already been bribed by Spencer.

At a meeting of Umbrella Corporation's high-level executives, Spencer publicly exposed Marcus's crimes. His human experimentation was extremely heinous. Marcus was dismissed from his position as director of the Cadre Training Institute by Umbrella Corporation and Spencer, with his two filial disciples, William and Wesker, taking over.

After losing his job, Marcus did not lose heart, nor did he accept the company's transfer order. Instead, he returned to the affiliated Cadre Training Institute in the Akeley Mountains to continue his research on the T-Virus.

To solve the flaws of the T-Virus, Marcus had a flash of inspiration: he thought he might be able to re-inject the T-Virus into leeches, and then have the leeches inject the virus, thereby greatly reducing the virus's toxicity. He could also rely on the leeches to control commands, thus giving birth to the Bio-weapon named "Leech Queen."

But even at this stage of research,

The Leech Queen still had a fatal flaw: its weakness to light. Once exposed to sunlight, its power would weaken. To solve this flaw, Marcus continued to work diligently on his research, but unfortunately… news that Marcus had seemingly solved the T-Virus flaw reached Spencer at Umbrella Corporation's headquarters.

In April 1978, the greedy Umbrella CEO Spencer, in order to seize the T-Virus, warned Marcus and ordered him to share all research data on the improved T-Virus, but Marcus resolutely refused. At this point, Spencer's murderous intent began to grow.

On June 3, 1978, the unfilial disciples Wesker and William received a secret order from Spencer. They brought a large special forces unit to the Cadre Training Institute to assassinate Marcus and seize his research data. Marcus, busy with his experiments, was suddenly shot and killed instantly by the special forces who burst through the door.

Before he died,

Marcus saw his unfilial disciples, William and Wesker, behind the special forces. He immediately understood that he had been betrayed. In his dying moments, the Leech Queen sample, shattered by the bullet spray, fell, and the T-Virus Leech Queen stored inside entered Marcus's body.

But William and Wesker and the others did not notice. They immediately threw Marcus's body into the sewer and seized all the research data.

With faint vital signs combined with the Leech Queen, Marcus's vitality slowly began to recover, and over ten years, he completely transformed from a dying corpse into a powerful life form. He was younger than before and possessed greater power. Marcus, with the Leech Queen T-Virus, could manipulate Mutated Leeches to attack others at will and infect them.

And now—

Ten years have passed, and the Dragon King has returned… The entire Raccoon City and Umbrella Corporation must tremble, ready to welcome the retaliatory fury of their Dragon King…Pooh! The King of Viruses, Marcus!
