Chapter 9 - My Skynet Academia

[U.A. - Class 1A Homeroom - Kyoka Jiro POV]

'My day can't get better than this.'

Kyoka thought dryly as she, along with the rest of the class, watched a tall guy with glasses scold another student for having his feet up on the desk.

"A student of this academy shouldn't be sitting like that!"

Glasses then proceeded to do handchops with his right arm, which looked way too stiff and robotic.

"What's your deal, Foureyes?"

The ash-blonde individual asked with a mocking smirk.

"Do you have a stick up your ass?"

Glasses' right arm came to a sudden stop before going to his chest.

"How can you be so vulgar? You should have more manners if you want to be a Hero!"

"Who gives a fuck?"

With that the bickering continued until—

Clang, clang, clang.

'That doesn't sound like a person...'

Kyoka kept listening to the sound as it approached until it stopped right outside the big door of the classroom.

Then, unnoticed by anyone due to the catfight going on, the door slowly slid open before closing again, making the petite girl raise an eyebrow in confusion.

'Are we having two invisible people?'

"Metal!"

An excited voice called out as the floating uniform in the seat in front of the loud guy stood up before walking towards the front of the classroom.

'Who is she speaking to?'

Kyoka leaned sideways on her desk chair to try and catch a glimpse of the new student, but it seemed like they were standing just in front of the desk currently occupied by a tall guy with six arms.

"I knew you'll make it!...wait where's your uniform?!"

'That voice!'

Clang, clang, clang.

The same loud sound echoed through the classroom as the new arrival walked towards the empty seat behind the loud guy with spiky hair.

'No, no, no,'

Kyoka's head turned slightly to the left as she glanced at the origin of the sound as it walked past her before hopping onto its designated seat, finally catching the attention of the other students.

'Wait, wait, wait.'

Sweat ran down Kyoka's head as she tried her best to keep her eyes forward.

'What is that thing doing here?!'

---

[Metal's POV]

"What's that on your head?"

"Your mother has a company?"

Toru stood on Metal's left side as she kept firing questions to the machine who tried his best to respond.

"Excuse me!"

Metal turned his head forward to stare at the owner of the new voice.

"Where is your uniform?"

Metal's mechanical voice startled the student slightly before he regained his composure.

"'Deemed unnecessary?' by who?"

"Do you have any proof of that?"

"Hey! This isn't an interrogation room!"

Toru said as the sleeves of her uniform moved up and down in protest.

"I'm not interrogating anyone! I'm just making sure everyone is following proper student conduct!"

The tall male with the glasses started going over the textbook of students' rules and how all of them could follow them without fail.

Just as Metal was about to go into resting mode with the hope of skipping the lecture, thankfully his salvation came in the form of the door sliding open.

"E-Eh?!"

A green-haired male let out a squeak as his gaze focused on the blonde sitting in front of Metal before switching back to the guy with glasses.

"You are..."

Glasses walked towards the entrance of the classroom with a stiff posture that made Metal consider the possibility of his classmate also being a machine.

"Good morning! I am Tenya Iida from Somei Private Academy!"

...

"What's with that guy, though it was a valid question...aren't you like naked right now?"

Toru asked as her uniform turned back towards Metal.

"What does that even mean, you're a human too, dum-dum."

"Eh?"

The right sleeve of Toru's blazer moved upwards as the girl scratched her head in confusion.

"Oh! I get it! You like to pretend you're a robot since you look like that thanks to your Quirk!"

"Hey, it's okay," Toru gave Metal's head a few pats. "I liked to pretend I was the narrator of everyone's life up until middle school, you'll grow out of it, don't worry."

[Software Instability 45% -> 45.5%]

"If you're here to make friends then leave."

A tired voice came from behind the students standing in the doorway, making the whole class turn to stare at the source of it.

"What is that?"

"A caterpillar?"

"A hobo?..."

The hobo took a sip out of some juice pouch before crawling out of its yellow sleeping bag.

"It took you all eight seconds to quiet down, time is limited, you kids are not rational enough if you don't know that from the start..."

The tired homeless man said before stepping inside the classroom while dragging the sleeping bag.

"I'm your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa, nice to meet you all..."

[Scanning...

Data Found: Shota Aizawa/Eraser Head — User Designation: Pro Hero

Gender: Male

Estimated Age: 40-50

Quirk Threat Level: 0.0]

"It's sudden but," the Pro Hero rummaged the insides of his sleeping bag before pulling out the U.A. gym uniform, "Change into these before meeting me in the P.E. Grounds...except for you," Shota stared right at Metal's shiny frame, "You'll come with me."

With that the teacher turned around and walked out of the classroom, not even bothering to check if Metal was following.

"Did you do anything?"

Toru asked the small robot as it hopped down from his chair.

---

[U.A. - P.E. Grounds - Metal's POV]

"I have no idea what to do with you."

Aizawa said as he stared down at the small robot standing in front of him.

"I don't know how Nezu expects me to teach heroics to a robot," the Pro Hero then let out a yawn before focusing back on Metal, "I can't train you like a normal student and physical evaluation is meaningless since I could just ask your creator for whatever specifics I need."

"What?"

Metal said as he focused his red circular lens on the Pro Hero's own black eyes.

"Can't you just ask that girl to install whatever data you need to imitate real experience?"

Aizawa asked as he put his hands in his pockets.

Aizawa let out a sigh of exhaustion before muttering, "What is my life at this point?..."

The exhausted male shook his head.

"I'll do just that then...I'll be doing a Quirk apprehension test with the rest of the class, you can just stand on the side or whatever."

"I did but that doesn't mean I have to waste time on meaningless things, if I need to know anything about your physical limits I'll just ask your creator," Aizawa said as he stared ahead to where the rest of the class should be coming from, "Why are they taking so long?"

"'You want'?"

"I hate the fact that you're providing a fair point..."

Thud, thud, thud.

Metal turned to look towards the direction of the footsteps as the rest of the class arrived at the grounds. "Get in line." The Pro Hero said to Metal.

With that Metal walked towards the group before turning around to look straight at his teacher. "T-There's someone shorter than me?" The boy with the weird balls on his hair said from behind Metal.

"Okay, listen up..." Aizawa spoke up, making the whole class focus on him.

"We're going to be doing a Quirk apprehension test."

"Quirk apprehension test?" said most of the class in unison.

"B-But what about the entrance ceremony?" asked a bubbly voice coming from a girl with a round face and brown hair.

"If you're going to be heroes then there's no time for that, U.A. allows its teachers to give the lessons in any way they want..."

Then the Hero took a phone out of his right pocket before showing it to the class.

"You've all been doing these since middle school, right?"

The phone displayed multiple names of various physical tests.

"Physical evaluations where they don't allow you to use your Quirks...for some reason the Minister of Education keeps enforcing those rules, believing everyone is equal is not rational at all." Shota shook his head slightly in disapproval before continuing.

"Bakugo," the mentioned student narrowed his eyes as he stared at the teacher, "You were in second place on the entrance exam," a vein strained on Bakugo's forehead at the reminder, "What was your highest score on softball back in middle school?"

"67 meters..." The student said through gritted teeth.

"Here," Aizawa pulled a baseball out of his left pocket before throwing it at Bakugo, who caught it easily, "Step into the circle and try to throw that as far as you can, anything goes as long as you don't step out of the circle..."

Bakugo grinned like a madman as he quickly walked into the circle. Without wasting time the boy quickly adjusted his stance before—

"DIE!"

BOOM!

A explosion resonated throughout the yard as the ball was sent flying leaving a trail of flames and smoke behind it.

"Your limits..."

Shota showed the phone again to the class. The phone displayed the numbers: 705.2.

"Are something you should know from the start, it is the most rational way to improve."

"Eh?!"

"705.2 meters? Seriously?"

"What is this? It sounds fun!"

"We can use our Quirks freely! It's going to be so fun!"

...

"Fun?" Shota spoke in a serious tone, making the class quiet down instantly.

"You have three years to become Heroes, is that the attitude you should be having?"

The teacher's face morphed into a creepy smirk. "Good, the one who scores the lowest will be expelled from the class."

"HUH?!" Most of the students' expressions quickly went from excitement to shock before settling in anxiety.

"T-That's unfair! It's just the first day!" said the same bubbly voice from before, this time filled with nervousness.

"Natural disasters, accidents and egoistic villains, you can't change the flow of calamity. We Heroes are there to reverse the situation and mitigate the damage, in the time you'll spend here I'll be putting you through the grinder," Shota raised his hand and mockingly did a 'Come at me' gesture with his finger, "Go Beyond Plus Ultra and all that, right? Now we wasted enough time, let's start."

---

[50-Meter Dash - Iida's POV]

Metal stood beside Iida on the starting line of the track.

"Ready."

A squeaky voice came from the mounted camera at the side of the finish line.

Iida leaned down as he got into a running stance before glancing to the side.

V-v-vvrrrrr-rt.

Iida's eyes widened as he glanced at the metallic ball currently spinning in place, making sand fly everywhere.

"Set."

Iida shook his head before focusing back on the track.

"Go!"

Iida's leg released steam through the pipes on the back as the student ran forward with impressive speed.

VRRRT!

As if a catapult was released, the small shiny sphere launched itself forward, leaving a deep trail in the sand and quickly overtaking Iida.

"2.10 seconds."

"3.04 seconds."

Iida skidded to a halt once he made it through the finish line.

'I lost in speed?... It doesn't matter, I can only go up to third gear in such a small track. If the race was longer, I would have won.'

The boy thought as he adjusted his glasses with his index finger.

---

[Grip Strength - Shoji's POV]

"Woah! 540.0 kg! Are you a gorilla?" said a boy with black hair and weird elbows.

'Should I take that as an insult?...'

"My Quirk is just good for this kind of thing..." Shoji replied as he looked down at the machine on his hand.

Crack!

"You broke it?!" A high-pitched voice came from a small guy with purple balls on his head.

Said Metal as he stared at the crumbling pieces of the equipment falling between his clawed fingers.

'That voice is so weird... but not like I'm one to talk about being weird.'

Shoji had heard Metal's voice back in the classroom when the small guy was talking with the floating uniform, but between the noises of the classroom he didn't get a good grasp on it.

"What the hell, man?"

The guy with weird elbows asked as he approached the small duo.

"I won't be giving you a handshake anytime soon, that's for sure." The black-haired student shuddered.

"This just shows that small guys can also be strong, hahaha!"

Grape-hair put his hand on Metal's right plated shoulder.

"We're going to show everyone that height doesn't matter, brother!"

'Why is he talking like that? Does he think he's a robot or what?'

Shoji glanced down at the device in his hand before looking again at his score.

'This was the test I was supposed to excel at... I guess I just have to try harder on the next one. At least I got the attention off me.'

[Standing Long Jump - Metal's POV]

Metal stared at the sandbox for a moment before slowly getting into a crouching position.

C-C-Creak.

Metal's frame shot into the air, making the students that were watching him look around in confusion.

CRASH!

"What the hell?"

"I can't see anything!"

"AHH! I GOT SAND IN MY EYES!"

Metal heard the muffled voices of students around the sandbox as he remained stuck headfirst in the sand.

"Metal, are you okay?!"

A voice that Metal recognized as Toru's asked as the girl grabbed his legs and tried to pull him out of the sand.

"You! With the multiple arms! Come and help me!"

[Repeated Side Steps - Mineta's POV]

Mineta watched as Metal side-stepped between the lines, his silver frame now stained with dust and sand.

'I can't believe he didn't break his skull.'

"55/100 points."

The mounted camera watching over the lines said after Metal's time was up.

"Not bad, my fellow short king..."

Mineta stepped forward once Metal moved out of the way.

"But let me show you how you do this."

The small guy then proceeded to pluck out some of the purple balls on his head, creating a small cluster of them on each side of the lines.

"Observe!"

Mineta held both his arms to the sides before touching one of the purple balls.

Boing, boing, boing, boing, boing, boingboingboingboingboing...

"S-S-S-S-e-e-e?!"

Mineta's voice came out wrong as his body bounced from side to side at top speed.

"T-T-T-The l-l-ladies l-l-like a-a g-guy w-who t-t-takes r-r-risks!"

"100/100 points."

"Ha!... I-I-I C-C-CAN'T S-S-STOP!"

[Ball Throw - Metal's POV]

"Tsk... Don't make me use my Quirk so much, my eyes get dry..."

Aizawa said as he pulled his scarf back after letting go of Bakugo.

"We're wasting time. Whoever is next, step forward..."

With that, Metal took Deku's place in the circle.

"Catch..."

Metal's hand easily caught the ball before looking forward.

Best Course Of Action: Punch The Ball]

Metal threw the small ball a few meters straight up.

His camera lens narrowed as they zoomed in on the ball once it started falling.

[Calculating Angle...

Optimal Impact Point Found]

Metal's right hand clenched into a fist as the ball fell as if it was in slow motion until finally—

BAM!

A strong sound echoed through the grounds as Metal's fist impacted against the ball.

The small ball let out a sharp whistle as it traveled far away from Metal's position.

...

...

"Alright, here's your score..." Aizawa said with a yawn as he showed the score: 1,534 meters.

"For real?!"

"What's up with that little guy?"

"Hahaha! That's the way to go, short brother!"

---

[Sit Ups]

"How long would it take for you to run out of energy?"

"...I'll just give you the highest score..."

---

[Seated Toe-Touch - Ashido's POV]

"Easy peasy!"

Ashido said as she jumped to her feet after completing the test before looking around at her classmates.

'They're sure making some funny faces right now.'

The horned girl let out a giggle before a light reflecting off something pulled her attention.

'Oh, that's the guy who landed on his head... what was his name again?'

An image of a floating uniform calling out toward her classmate came to mind.

'Metal! Right.'

Thud, crunch.

The sound pulled Ashido out of her thoughts as she focused again on the smaller student.

"Uhhhh... are you okay?"

The pink-skinned girl asked as she found the front of Metal's face completely pressed against the wooden floor.

'Please tell me he didn't break something...'

Metal's voice made Mina shiver slightly for a moment.

'That's a creepy voice... but kinda cool.'

Metal pulled his head back to sit straight.

Small remnants of wood fell off from his pointed nose.

"Pfft!"

Ashido put a hand over her mouth as she tried not to laugh.

---

[Endurance Run]

"Don't."

---

[Metal's POV]

"Okay, these are the results of the test... It'll be a pain having to go through each one, so I'll just show you." Aizawa tapped the phone, making a projection appear in front of the class.

-Momo Yaoyorozu

-Shoto Todoroki

-Katsuki Bakugo

"Ah, I was lying about the expulsion thing. I just needed all of you to take this seriously."

"HUH?!" Most of the class let out a sound of protest while staring at their teacher, while the green-haired boy beside Metal looked like he was about to faint.

"Of course it was a lie. It was obvious once you thought about it," said the now-identified Yaoyorozu.

"We had no idea..." muttered three students at the same time.

"Anyways, we're done here. Your schedules should be in your desks in the classroom. Look at them once you've changed back..."

With that, the exhausted Hero walked away.

---

[U.A. Entrance - Mei's POV]

"Soo you're telling me you got stuck head-first in a sandbox?" Mei asked as she tried her hardest not to laugh at the mental image.

Somehow Metal's tone sounded even more detached than usual as the robot walked through the blue gates.

"Come oon! Don't be mad," Mei said as she quickly matched Metal's pace.

"At least you had a fun day! I was stuck in an auditorium while they talked nonsense!"

'Did he just?'

"Did you just 'womp, womp' me?!"

"Nonono, I definitely heard you!"

"Positive!"

"Positive!"
