Chapter 4 - The thought of him

The words still echoed in her head long after the interview ended, long after she stepped out of the agency office and into the afternoon heat. Her palms were damp, her heartbeat uneven — not from excitement, but from something she refused to name.

Miss Lola adjusted her glasses and smiled warmly across the desk.

"You'll be a live-in housekeeper," she explained gently. "You may return to your apartment every Saturday and come back Sunday evening."

Lisa nodded slowly, trying to focus on the details instead of the strange unease crawling under her skin.

"Yes, ma'am."

"You'll begin once your employer is available to send someone for you."

Lisa hesitated.

"Ma'am… can I know more about him? Maybe see his picture?"

Miss Lola chuckled softly. "We usually allow employers and staff to meet naturally, but he specifically requested to approve candidates himself."

She slid a photograph across the desk.

Lisa glanced down.

And the world stopped.

Her breath vanished.

Her fingers trembled as the image stared back at her — cold eyes, sharp jaw, that same dangerous calm she knew too well.

Oliver.

Her throat tightened.

"He was very particular," Miss Lola continued, unaware of the storm inside Lisa. "Rejected many candidates. But the moment he saw your picture, he agreed immediately."

Lisa pushed the photo back as if it burned.

"No, ma'am. I can't work with him."

Miss Lola blinked in surprise. "Why? He isn't married. No children either. He lives alone and employs excellent staff."

That was exactly the problem.

Lives alone.

Meaning corridors crossing at night. Shared silence. Close proximity. Memories she was trying desperately to bury.

"I just… can't," Lisa whispered.

Miss Lola leaned forward.

"He paid double," she said quietly. "Double the usual salary — specifically for you."

Lisa's heart dropped.

Not for a housekeeper.

For her.

Lisa paced their apartment while Jerry lounged dramatically across the couch eating chips.

"He paid double," she repeated for the tenth time.

Jerry raised an eyebrow. "Baby girl, that's not a red flag. That's a blessing."

"You don't understand."

"I understand money," Jerry said calmly. "And rent. And survival."

She stopped pacing. "It's Oliver."

Jerry sat upright instantly.

"The Oliver?"

She nodded.

Jerry let out a long whistle. "Oh… that Oliver."

Silence filled the room.

"Well," he said finally, "you're seeing Jared now. Focus on the sweet rich one, ignore the scary rich one. Problem solved."

Lisa shook her head. "I'll find another job."

"If that makes you happy," Jerry said gently, "then do it."

But Lisa noticed the worry in his eyes.

A sleek black car parked in front of their building.

Two security guards stepped out.

Jerry opened the door cautiously.

"Yes?"

"Is Miss Lisa available?" one guard asked professionally.

"…Who are you people?"

"Our boss wishes to speak with her."

"Lisa!" Jerry called. "Babe, someone important is here!"

Lisa walked out, confused.

Her gaze fell on the tinted car.

Her heart leapt.

Jared?

He moved with security sometimes — but not like this.

The guards opened the back door.

She entered without thinking.

And froze.

The air inside was cold. Heavy. Familiar.

Oliver sat beside her.

Perfectly composed. Perfectly dangerous.

"What are you doing here?" she whispered.

His eyes slid toward her slowly, dark and unreadable.

"So," he said quietly, "you refused to work for me because of your boyfriend?"

Lisa opened her mouth to explain — to say Jerry was her best friend, that everything was misunderstood.

But something stubborn rose inside her.

"Yes," she said instead. "My boyfriend didn't want me working with you."

Oliver's jaw tightened.

He signaled silently.

The driver and security exited the car, leaving them alone.

The door shut.

The space instantly felt smaller.

Closer.

He turned toward her fully now, leaning in until she felt his breath against her skin.

"You let another man decide where you work?" he asked softly.

His voice was calm.

Lisa swallowed. "It's my choice."

His gaze dropped briefly to her lips before returning to her eyes.

"You're lying."

Her pulse thundered.

"I'm not."

He moved closer — invading her space without touching her, yet somehow overwhelming every sense she had.

"I doubled the salary," he murmured. "Do you know why?"

She shook her head despite herself.

"Because," he said, voice lowering into something dark and intimate, "I don't like being denied."

Her breath hitched.

"And you," he continued, eyes burning now, "walked away from me twice."

The car felt suffocating.

"Mr. Oliver—"

"Oliver," he corrected.

His hand braced beside her on the seat, trapping her without force.

"You think distance will fix whatever happened between us?" he asked quietly.

Her heart pounded violently.

"We barely know each other."

A faint smile touched his lips — dangerous, knowing.

"That's where you're wrong."

His eyes softened for only a fraction of a second.

We might not know each other, but your body knows me.

Silence stretched between them, thick and electric.

Outside, the city moved normally.

Inside the car, everything felt inevitable.

"What do you want from me?" Lisa whispered.

Oliver studied her like a man deciding something irreversible.

"I want," he said slowly, "you to take the job."

His voice dropped into a near whisper.

"And stop pretending you're not already caught in my world."

Lisa's breath trembled.

I told you I won't take, my man wouldn't like that. Before she could open her mouth for the next sentence, he kissed her,Lisa couldn't resist or control herself she kissed him back, her body so hot, she knows she's very wet and if he touches her there she's won't fight him.

He broke the kiss and she almost cursed him out.

She could see the smirk on his and she wished to slapped it out of his face.

Now does your boyfriend kiss you and make you so wet like me, there's no need to argue with me, i know for sure you're very wet right now.

Stop fooling yourself the world doesn't revolve around you and I have someone who makes me so wet that i wish to go spread my legs wide for him.

She could see he was angry, but she has to let him know the world wasn't made for only him. Even if all she wanted right now was for his long fingers to be inside of her. She has to control herself. She tried to open the door but it was still locked. I need to go now I have a lot to do.

Look Lisa i don't give a damn about your boyfriend but you're working for me. Or you pay me back the extra money i gave to them right this minute. You can't pay the money so get ready i would come tomorrow to pick you up and i don't mind dragging you along with me.
