Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Taloryn's Void

"I-it's over."

"I might never see her again."

My thoughts spiraled out of control. The idea of losing her — again — felt like something inside me was being crushed beyond repair.

And despite that, my death by a Truck, my consciousness clung to thought. My soul clung to thought desperately, like a the tiny flame of a candle refusing to die in a storm as large as Tokyo itself.

My senses — the fragile bridge between body and reality — dissolved into nothingness. No sound. No light. No warmth. No scent. No taste.

Only darkness. Darkness beyond anything I've ever seen

It the darkness was too much that if felt like I had been dragged back to the dawn of creation— before earth had shape, before life had meaning.

I knew I was dead.

And yet disbelief clung tightly to me. Meeting with fear, confusion and shock was inevitable.

I no longer understood what I was.

Then.

Pain.

Not physical. Not something flesh can possibly mimic.

It was deeper than that.

It tore through my very soul, as if invisible hands were stripping away every impurity, every attachment, every scar carved into me by my past life.

I tried to scream.

But there was no sound.

No air to carry it. No matter to vibrate. No world to hear it.

Time did not exist here. Moments stretched into eternity. Eternity collapsed into moments.

Then something changed.

The void dissapearing as a bright light came to my rescue.

The warmth only life can give. The colors of the world i thought I'd never see agan. The smell of air. The strange taste of saliva. It was all coming back.

Life.

I had been born, but I was not alone.

There was another.

My flesh and blood. And then...

Silence.

They were supposed to cry but they didn't.

Two tiny newborns drew their first breaths in this beautiful world. For a moment, the silence held, until it was broken by the anxious voice of a woman.

"Why are they not crying? Are they alive?" she asked, voice trembling with concern.

The doctor responded calmly, though his tone hinted at astonishment. "This is… unusual. I've read of rare cases like this. But yes, they are alive."

"Thank goodness," she whispered, relief washing over her features. "I thought… I thought they were gone."

I tried to gather my thoughts. 'Who are these people? Where am I?' Everything felt unfamiliar. I had no memory of this place, yet a small spark inside me recognized something vital.

Then realization hit me like a thunderbolt.

'Of course… my childhood prayer. It was answere...' I was disturbed by the voice of the strange woman, sounding calmer than before.

"Are you sure they're okay, Doctor?"

"Yes. Yes. Don't worry. They are breathing."

She exhaled, the tension leaving her body.

"Thank goodness… but they need names, don't they?"

"Of course. Names are necessary," the doctor said, neutral yet patient.

Her eyes softened. "You're right… I'll name him… Yokestu Eryndale. And her name will be Hiyori Eryndale."

A wave of quiet washed over me. 'Finally… peace. Wait, did she say Eryndale? Calm down. Focus.'

I reviewed everything I knew.

'The woman is my mother, a original vampire. That man is a doctor. This is the Eryndale family hospital. My father must be the head of the household, a human.'

SLAM!!!

"Sorry I'm late!"

'i was correct indeed'

The door burst open, rattling the frame, and a tall man with broad shoulders strode in. His hair looked slightly messy, his expression a mix of embarrassment and urgency.

"You oaf! Why didn't you come earlier? They already have names!" The woman's voice cut sharply through the room, but there was laughter underneath her scolding, the playful tone only someone who truly knew her could notice.

The man's eyes immediately landed on the twins, and his astonishment was genuine. "Wait… did you just say 'they'?"

"They!" she snapped back, pointing toward the tiny figures swaddled on the table. "Do you see them? Yokestu and Hiyori! Your children, if you hadn't noticed."

"They are… so cute!" His voice trembled slightly with awe. He stepped closer, lowering himself to study them. "I… I wish I could have been here sooner, but… responsibilities as the head of the Eryndale household…" His voice faltered under her rising laughter.

"Responsibilities, responsibilities, always your excuses!" she interrupted, though a faint smile tugged at her lips.

"Do you even know what day it is? Or are you too busy playing at being the great head of our house to see your own children born?"

"Okay! Okay! I'm sorry!" he said, raising his hands in mock surrender. "You're right. Truly, I am..."

"You'd better be," she said, narrowing her eyes, though her tone had softened now, more amused than angry.

I observed them both, noting the subtle tension between them , love and frustration , pride laced with vulnerability.

The energy in the room felt different now, charged, almost alive.

The man reached out cautiously, his hands hovering above the twins without touching. "Yokestu… Hiyori… huh. You're really here. " His voice carried awe, disbelief, and reverence.

The woman sighed, leaning against the wall for support, watching him fumble. "Yes. And you better start acting like a father, not just the head of the house."

The man leaned closer, his gaze shifting between the twins and the woman. "So… this is really happening. I… I didn't think I'd see this day."

"You'd better remember it," she said softly, her earlier sharpness gone.

"Because it's only the beginning. Everything else… comes later."

I blinked up at them, my tiny body swaddled, yet my mind wide awake. This world was not like the last, not like the one I had left. Here, life hummed in every corner — in the air, in the walls, in the small heartbeat of Hiyori beside me.

"You're quiet," the man murmured, his voice softer now. He reached out, brushing a finger against Yokestu's tiny hand. The touch was electric in my mind, a whisper of warmth, a thread connecting me to him — to myself.

"Quiet, yes. But alive," the doctor said, finally stepping forward. "Extremely rare, yes, but alive."

The woman nodded, her face bathed in the soft glow of the morning sun filtering through the window. "Alive. And they have names. Yokestu… Hiyori. Remember them. Protect them. Love them."

The man smiled faintly, a shadow of awe in his eyes. "I will… I swear it."

I watched it all in silence, the weight of life pressing gently against me. The twins, my flesh and blood, were being welcomed into this world, not just with relief, not just with joy, but with gravity, with expectation. Every movement, every word, every breath in the room carried meaning.

For now, though, I was quiet. I watched. I listened. And for the first time since my death, I felt… alive.

---------------------

The car pulled up to the Eryndale estate, a sleek blend of modern architecture and noble grandeur. Glass walls reflected the sunset, and the steel-and-stone structure shimmered almost unreal, like a painting brought to life.

Inside, the nursery was softly lit with warm, floating lamps that hovered near the ceiling, illuminating cribs lined with plush blankets. Each corner whispered both wealth and care, an impossible mix of comfort and authority.

"Welcome home, my dears," my mother said, gently laying Hiyori in her crib. Her hands moved with practiced care, brushing soft strands of hair from the baby's face.

My father crouched by Yokestu's crib, eyes wide with awe. "You're really here… both of you. My children." His fingers hovered over the tiny hands before settling gently, a promise in the touch.

The room smelled faintly of lavender and new wood.

"Sleep well tonight," my mother said. "Tomorrow, a new world awaits you. But for now… rest."

My father nodded, his voice softer, yet serious. "Yes. Rest. The world will wait."

I watched it all from my tiny perspective, swaddled in soft blankets. The weight of the love and care they gave us pressed gently around us. And it was rather comforting.

And with our having left the room I decided to gather my thoughts.

'Wow I can't believe I was actually reincarnated. But anyway do I have it?' my thoughts focused on the only thing that mattered to me right now, the system. I emptied my thoughts and focused on what I wanted then..

'System!' I thought hoping it would appear..

Then as expected a holographic display appeared before me.
