"My father took me to her grave. I've been there many times."
Camilla kept her eyes on the road.
"A grave only proves that someone was buried."
She spoke calmly, as though merely thinking out loud.
"It doesn't necessarily prove who was buried."
Daniella fell silent.
Camilla continued after a moment.
"And regarding the Lanford Estate..." Camilla said after a brief silence, "...did you know your mother had a twin sister?"
Daniella's eyes widened in disbelief as she turned sharply toward her.
"My mother had a twin?"
She had never heard such a thing before. Throughout her entire life, neither her father nor anyone else had ever mentioned another sister. As far as she had always known, her mother had been an only child.
Camilla gave a small nod.
"Yes. At least, that's what I've managed to uncover. The two sisters were said to be almost impossible to tell apart. They looked exactly alike."
She glanced at Daniella before adding thoughtfully,
