"Let's go," Santiago said.
His voice stayed calm, but there was a new weight beneath it, something heavier, quieter, harder to read.
He slipped his phone into his pocket, then gathered his tablet and laptop in one fluid motion.
Daniella swung her legs carefully over the side of the bed.
She paused.
Steadied herself.
Then stood.
The moment her full weight settled on her feet, her knees buckled.
The room spun violently.
She crashed hard onto the floor before she could catch herself.
A sharp gasp tore from her throat.
Pain flared through her body.
Humiliation followed right behind it.
"Look at you," Santiago said, his voice low, almost amused.
She clenched her jaw, palms pressing against the cold tiles as she tried to push herself up again, stubborn despite the weakness.
"They were right…" she muttered under her breath, frustration and anger bleeding into the words.
Before she could try a second time, Santiago moved.
