Santiago barely moved.
Calls came in. Messages flooded his devices. Decisions were made, orders given, problems handled efficienciently all without him ever leaving the room. A man like him did not pause, did not stop, no matter the circumstances. And yet, even as he navigated the constant demands of his world, his gaze returned to her again and again, drawn back as if by instinct.
Night had almost fully settled when the door opened quietly.
The doctor stepped in, his movements calm and unobtrusive as he approached the bed. He checked the monitors, lifted her wrist gently to feel her pulse, then observed her face for a moment longer than usual.
"She is stable now," he said at last, his voice low but clear. "Physically, there's no immediate danger."
Santiago closed the laptop slowly, setting it aside as he rose to his feet.
