The day ended slowly or maybe she was the only one who thought so. She spent most of her time in the nurse's office to deal with her headache. A notification popped up on her phone when she was on her way home. It was a message from president choi. Friday, I will pick you up from school.
She turned her phone off not wanting to read any more messages, a familiar feeling of disgust crawling in her. Disgust for herself. She got home to her always drunk father already asleep. He was lying in an uncomfortable position but at this point if he died she wouldn't care. She just brushed past him and left for her room, sleep lulling her in it's embrace.
The week passed by fast, faster than she wanted. Friday came as expected, dread already filling her as she lied on her bed with her eyes wide open. The clock struck seven before she stood up to take her bath, she didn't even wash her hair nor did she brush it. No one would notice anyway. Her hair was a healthy silk mass. It was the one thing she inherited from her mother, so she always made sure to take care of it well, but today is an exception. She found no push in her to do anything. She already cut it short, it now fell around her shoulders. It was always so long, bouncing as she walked but her father hated it, craving for his attention, she had cut it hoping it would change how her father saw her because he always said he saw her mother in her and hated her for it. How dumb of her to think things would change. As she dressed up, she thought of her mother. She was sure the lovely woman would be rolling in her grave if she knew her beloved daughter dress up her hair for that particular reason.
She picked her school bag and walked to the bus stop. Getting to school late, she wasn't the least enthusiastic about the day's lecture. She just sat in class and prayed for the day to go as long as it could. A contrast from her usual prayer. She counted the hours till the bell rang, feeling sick and nauseous as each hour passed by. Even her homeroom teacher noticed her discomfort and asked if she was okay.
Okay?, What an understatement. With her head on her desk, she heaved a heavy sigh as the bell rang signalling the end of the day's class. She walked out if the building rather slowly into the school's couryard. Right there and then , a car drove in accompanied by two other cars, all in black. A bodyguard stepped out of the first car and moved swiftly to open the door of the second. The president stepped out, squinting as he searched the school with his eyes. Once his eyes met Hers, he smiled grimly and called for her. At this point she was sure all eyes were on them. He had put on quite a show with his entourage and now this. She looked around and as she predicted, students were all over the place. Staring throug the window, hanging around the couryard, by the entrance. All of them looking in her direction, gossiping.
She looked back at the man still awaiting her, he snapped his fingers signalling for her to come. Having no choice, she walked to him giving her bag to the ever faithful bodyguard and entered the car with President choi's hand on the low of her back escorting her in.
