That morning, I was still sleeping when Ray suddenly punched my stomach to wake me up.
"Leo! Wake up quickly," Ray shouted. "We're late for class!"
I immediately woke up and checked the time. He was right — we were actually late for our first class. I quickly got dressed and rushed to the classroom with Ray.
But the moment we arrived, our professor was already there. The dark circles under his eyes clearly showed that he hadn't slept, and he looked extremely angry. Since it was our first day and we were already late, he punished us by making us stand outside the classroom.
After some time, Kyron saw us . When he saw us standing there, he stopped for a moment and then burst out laughing.
"So you two are already late on the first day?" he said.
Then Kyron went inside the classroom and somehow convinced the professor to forgive our punishment.
When Ray asked him what he had said, Kyron simply replied,"I'm just a little too popular."
We didn't pay much attention to it and entered the classroom. Ray sat beside me, and after everyone settled down, the professor introduced himself.
"My name is Marcus Reed. You are all first-year students, so I will teach you sword skills. As for studies and other magic-related subjects, Sophia Hayes will handle them."
Just then, Sophia Hayes entered the classroom. She looked incredibly young, and her skin seemed to glow. In a sweet voice she said,
"Hi, my name is Sophia Hayes. From today onward, I will be teaching your library and magic classes. And just so you know… I'm very strict."
As soon as she entered, almost every boy in the class started staring at her, because she was very beautiful.
After the class ended, Ray and I decided to explore the academy. I was amazed by all the strange and fascinating things inside the academy.
After a while Ray said,"Let's go to the cafeteria."
I was already hungry, so we went there. But when we arrived, we saw that a very long line had already formed.
At that moment my stomach started making noises.
Ray sighed."Well Leo… we don't have a choice. We'll have to stand in line."
So we stood in line, and after some time we finally got our food. We sat at a table and began eating while looking at the beautiful view outside.
While eating, I noticed that Luna was sitting alone behind us.
I quickly picked up my plate and walked toward her. Standing beside her politely, like a respectful junior, I asked,
"Can I sit here?"
"Yeah, why not? Sit," Luna replied with a smile.Then she laughed lightly and said, "You don't have to be so formal."
I quietly sat down, and a moment later Ray also came and sat beside us.
I apologized to Luna for the deep cut I had given her leg earlier during the fight. Luna politely replied,
"It's fine. Don't worry about it."
Ray and I could hardly believe that this was the same girl who once wanted to hunt me down.
Curious, I asked,"Luna… were you fighting using animal instincts or something?"
Luna looked slightly annoyed and replied,"Do I look like an animal to you?"
"No, no!" I quickly said.
Then Luna continued explaining calmly.
"I simply channel my aura into my hands, which makes them sharp like claws. It's similar to how you put your aura into your weapon to make it stronger. I just use mine directly through my hands."
Just then Mira arrived from behind and joked,
"Yeah… she's basically an animal."
Luna immediately glared at her."Now you're dead, Mira."
Mira quickly apologized and sat down with us.
After that Mira asked us,"I heard from Kyron that you two got kicked out of class on the first day."
Ray pointed his finger at me while drinking water.
"That's because of Leo. We were late because he was sleeping."
I placed my hand on my head and said awkwardly,"Yeah… yeah… mistakes happen."
After some time Mira checked her watch and said,
"It's time for our class."
Then Mira and Luna left the cafeteria.
After they left, Ray asked me,
"Leo, when will you teach me how to use a sword?"
I thought for a moment and then suddenly said loudly,
"Are you ready to work hard?"
Ray replied, "Yes, I'm ready."
Then I asked even louder,
"ARE YOU READY TO WORK HARD?!"
The entire cafeteria suddenly turned to look at us.
Ray sighed and said,"You look like an idiot."
Realizing what I had done, I quickly apologized and sat down again.
Just then some seniors entered the cafeteria. They were the same seniors who had bothered us on our first day at the academy.
One of them said arrogantly,
"Do you two think you're some great people of this academy, shouting like that in the cafeteria?"
One of his friends laughed at Leo and said,
"Look at the cheap clothes you're wearing."
I was getting angry, but Ray told me to stay quiet.
Then suddenly that boy poured water on Ray's head.
Ray's expression immediately changed. He stood up and said calmly,
"Alright… let's teach them a lesson."
I stood up as well.
The senior smirked and led us to the forest behind the academy. When we arrived there, many of his friends were already waiting.
I clicked my tongue and said,
"Tsk tsk… you should be ashamed. You brought this many people just to fight the two of us?"
One of them rushed forward and placed a dagger on Ray's neck.
Ray didn't even look worried. With a single kick he sent the guy flying.
"You're still kids," Ray said.
After that everyone attacked us together.
But it didn't even take five minutes for Ray and me to defeat all of them.
The leader of the group sat on the ground, trembling, and started apologizing.
I looked at Ray and asked,
"Should we forgive him?"
Ray stepped forward and said coldly,
"Don't show your face to us again… or next time I'll kill you."
The boy nodded his head repeatedly and ran away crying.
After that Ray and I started laughing.
Later we returned to our room, and when we opened the door, Ray's older sister Lyra was already sitting there.
The moment she saw us, she pulled our ears and said,
"Why were you two late on your first day?"
We quietly apologized and promised,
"We won't be late again from tomorrow."
After saying that, Lyra left the room.
Ray and I silently lay down on our beds.
After a moment Ray said,
"So… this was our first day at the academy."
I laughed lightly and replied,
"Yeah… it was pretty funny."
