Chapter 48 - # Chapter 48: When Fate Descends

'An angel on earth? Protection? Do Justice and Devil know each other in reality? Or did Devil find out Justice's true identity through the last bit of information, and Justice used that to deduce Devil's identity in return?'

The Hanged Man couldn't suppress the astonishment in his heart. He realized that the topics discussed by the Tarot Club members today were all incredibly high-end. By comparison, his own desire to discuss Qilangos felt a bit beneath them.

However...

'Devil possesses a means that even those below the level of an "angel on earth" cannot see through? Does this mean he actually has demigod-level strength? Or is he in possession of a demigod-level Sealed Artifact?'

'Speaking of which, since Devil can provide protection to Miss Justice, who clearly holds significant power in Backlund, he must be a powerful Beyonder in Backlund himself, right?'

'In that case, perhaps Qilangos can be dealt with without needing Mr. Fool's blessed one to intervene?'

At this thought, The Hanged Man finally couldn't restrain his desire to eliminate Qilangos and spoke up, "Mr. Fool, Miss Justice, Mr. Devil. I have obtained a new piece of information. The reason Vice Admiral Hurricane Qilangos has infiltrated Backlund is to complete a difficult task. He might stay there for a long time and potentially orchestrate a horrific tragedy. Furthermore, I know this matter involves an exceptionally important item that can help Qilangos rapidly become a high-sequence powerhouse."

"Become a high-sequence powerhouse quickly? Is he not afraid of losing control?" Audrey immediately caught the main point. After hearing Mr. Devil's earlier description of the Acting Method, she clearly understood the essence of losing control--that mutation where two spirits merge together was, in her view, even more terrifying than death.

"That is precisely why that item is so important," Alger said frankly, then changed the subject.

"Of course, these are just my deductions. The specific information I received is as follows: Qilangos believes that once he completes the commission and obtains that item, he will soon be able to stand on equal footing with the King of the Five Seas, Nast, and the others, turning the Four Kings of the pirates into the Five Kings."

Alger slowly used his Beyonder knowledge to analyze the inner meaning of this information, emphasizing from time to time that the Beyonder item was extremely important, in an attempt to catch Mr. Fool's attention.

Unfortunately, whether it was Mr. Fool or Mr. Devil, both were currently at the peak of Sequence 9. Though both were in a state where they could advance at any time, going up against Qilangos was clearly unrealistic.

However, Klein did have some thoughts in his mind. Mr. Azik seemed to be in Backlund right now. Though he didn't know if the other could truly contend with Qilangos, it shouldn't be a problem to send a warning in a caring tone. Coincidentally, he also wanted to ask about the sacrificial ritual.

Ideas flashed through his mind, but on the surface, Mr. Fool remained as steady as ever, calmly uttering his signature line, "I understand."

Seeing that Mr. Fool remained unmoved, Alger turned his attention back to Devil and Justice, beginning to describe Qilangos's various habits in detail. To Snow, however, the description sounded incredibly bizarre. Because...

The Hanged Man's way of introducing him was almost like a yandere describing their secret crush!

As the discussion about Qilangos drew to a close, Klein felt that time for today's Tarot Club meeting was nearly up. He smiled and said, "Let us end here for today."

"As you wish." Everyone rose and bowed simultaneously. After Klein severed the connection, they quickly returned to their respective bodies.

Klein returned to his bedroom and dispelled the spiritual wall. He had originally planned to buy Beyonder materials according to his plan, but after pondering for a moment, he first reached for his pen and paper to write a letter to Mr. Azik.

...

In a room with a red chimney, a quill pen danced joyfully across a notebook. Line after line of copperplate script was written fluently without being dipped in ink, forming a series of continuous sentences:

"I don't know exactly where the problem occurred, but a witch discovered his existence and informed the official Beyonders. Heavens, is she not afraid of being locked in a church basement?"

"Oh! Poor Ince Zangwill. His script has changed once again. The official Beyonders have already started to notice the existence of 'coincidences'. His plan is facing failure once more..."

Writing to this point, the quill pen suddenly froze. It didn't continue writing, for it knew what would happen in the next moment.

Sure enough, an aged palm roughly gripped the quill. Beneath the line of text it had just written, he began to record anew, "The Beyonders of the Evernight Church accidentally sensed the aura of the evil god's spawn, thereby confirming that Megane is hiding in the Lower Street of Iron Cross Street. To avoid causing too much harm to the populace, the three major churches discussed and decided to host a large-scale charity event. By distributing food to the poor, they intend to move the majority of the paupers away from Iron Cross Street."

"The unborn spawn of the evil god and Megane, who has been completely corrupted by the evil god's power, cannot understand the importance of charity to the poor. Thus, they did not discover the church's scheme. This is clearly logical."

"However, Mr. A, who has long been watching, noticed this detail. As a fanatic, he decided to risk infiltrating the Lower Street of Iron Cross Street. After all, as a Shepherd, he possesses sufficient means to escape. This is likewise logical."

"As the most powerful entity in Tingen City, the Nighthawks of the Evernight Goddess Church dispatched all their mid-sequence Beyonders, leaving only a few low-sequence Beyonders to stand guard. They would never, in any way, imagine that the enemy's target would actually be their headquarters."

"Ince Zangwill's plan will not fail! He will certainly obtain what he wants!"

Whether driven by 0-08 or because the event itself fit "logic," after a certain unlucky Beyonder nearly lost control due to the evil god's aura, everything began to develop in the way Ince Zangwill desired...

...

Having finally restrained the overflowing spirituality of the 'Clown' potion, Klein, who had intended to spend the rest of his half-day holiday resting, was suddenly called to the Blackthorn Security Company. Upon entering, he saw Dunn and several Nighthawks who had come from other cities to provide support, all organizing their equipment. Among them, His Excellency the 'Sword of the Goddess', carrying a suitcase, and the Red Glove members beside him were particularly conspicuous.

"Captain, has the spawn of the evil god been found?" Klein asked, seeing the preparations. He immediately understood what was happening. He reached out to touch the pocket containing the Solar Siphon Charms and swallowed hard.

"Yes. But this time it's a joint operation by the three major churches. Low-sequence Beyonders don't need to participate. Sika, Kenley, and Frye will go to the cathedral to maintain order. You, Leonard, and Rozanne will stay at headquarters to prepare for any unexpected situations..."
