Chapter 139: Embracing Left and Right
"Sister?!"
Hearing her older sister ask such an intensely mortifying question, Shinobu's entire face flushed an impossibly deep shade of red. She desperately wanted to shove Suyan away and escape his embrace, but her body stubbornly refused to muster even an ounce of strength.
With no other options, Shinobu kept her eyes squeezed shut and buried her face into Suyan's chest like an ostrich, pretending she didn't know anything about anything.
"My, my, don't be so shy, Shinobu. It won't hurt to tell Big Sister," Kanae teased, a playful smirk dancing on her lips. She reached out and gently poked her sister's burning, flushed cheek twice.
Harassed beyond her breaking point, Shinobu suddenly snapped her eyes open. Glaring furiously at Kanae, she loudly scolded, "Then why don't you try it yourself and find out?!"
But the moment the words left her mouth, a heavy sense of regret crashed into her. Shinobu bit her lip, staring at Kanae with nervous dread.
Exactly as she feared, her sister's next words sent a violent tremor straight through her heart.
Kanae's purple eyes sparkled with intense curiosity and anticipation. "Can I?"
Shinobu instantly tried to retract her words, vehemently rejecting the idea. "Of course not!"
"You're so sly, Shinobu." Kanae put on an exaggerated, heartbroken expression. "You're enjoying yourself so much that you're too comfortable to even leave his arms, but when it comes to your big sister, you won't even let me try? You're so stingy."
"Listen here, Shinobu, it's not a good thing for a girl to be too possessive~"
Hearing this, Shinobu felt a rush of blood violently shoot straight to her head. Her face burned even hotter, though this time it was purely out of sheer, unadulterated rage at Kanae's words.
What did she mean she was too comfortable to leave his arms? What did she mean she was stingy and possessive?
A string of vicious insults jammed right in her throat, demanding to be spat out. But before she could utter a single syllable, the man holding her beat her to the punch.
Suyan kept a firm grip on Shinobu's pliant, boneless body to keep her from collapsing to the floor. Looking at Kanae with a playful, highly amused expression, he asked, "Then why didn't you ask for my opinion, Kanae?"
"What?" Kanae paused, slightly taken aback.
"I said, why didn't you ask for my opinion?" Suyan repeated, elaborating smoothly, "After all, strictly speaking, I don't belong to Shinobu. You and Shinobu belong to me."
"So, if you truly want to experience what a kiss feels like, shouldn't you be asking me?"
"Well..." Kanae narrowed her eyes slightly, trying to mask the sudden, sharp spike of embarrassment blooming in her chest.
While it was true she was curious about kissing, she had only asked those questions to seize the opportunity to bully her little sister. To actually experience it herself... right here, right now?
Kanae glanced at Shinobu in Suyan's arms, then let her gaze sweep across the room. The adorably confused Kanao, the incredibly envious Nezuko, the secretly expectant Aoi, and Saeko, who didn't seem to mind in the slightest.
So many people were watching.
No matter how you looked at it, she was still a maiden who had never experienced romance. Having her first kiss in front of a whole audience of her younger sisters... she was bound to feel shy.
Kanae's eyelashes fluttered nervously, and ripples formed in her purple eyes. Avoiding Suyan's direct gaze, she deflected, "How about next time? When there's no one else around?"
"Hmph."
Shinobu let out a sharp scoff. Seeing her sister's reaction, a sudden realization hit her.
That's right. Her sister was exactly like her. Neither of them had ever had any intimate contact with a boy. Considering that her sister was a few years older, her practical experience in this area was arguably even more pitiful than her own.
Last night, before she knocked on Suyan's door, Shinobu thought she could handle it easily. But after taking the initiative for a single peck on the lips, her body had dissolved into weakness. And now, faced with Suyan's aggression, she was so wrecked she still couldn't stand on her own two feet.
Thinking of this, the still-furious Shinobu took a petty, vindictive jab. "Is Sister actually too scared to do it?"
Kanae quickly countered, "Not at all. Big Sister is just being considerate of your feelings, Shinobu. While I am incredibly curious about how it feels, I care much more about your mood."
"How about you just tell me about it, Shinobu, and quench my curiosity?" Kanae smiled gently, her eyes narrowing in a way that perfectly obscured her true thoughts.
"Really? I don't believe you."
While she couldn't read Kanae's expression, her words confirmed it. Her sister had absolutely chickened out. Shinobu locked her gaze onto Kanae, her purple eyes screaming: Try it if you dare. "Well? Are you going to prove it to Shinobu, Kanae?"
Naturally, Suyan wasn't one to let a perfect show go to waste.
Excuse me?! Shinobu shot him a venomous glare. Did I say you could speak? Why are you interrupting?! She opened her mouth to snap at him, but Kanae's response completely derailed her.
"Okay!" Kanae answered with total calmness.
Only the tight, nervous clenching of her hands betrayed the fact that she wasn't nearly as calm on the inside as she appeared on the outside.
Shinobu looked at her sister in utter disbelief. "Sister?"
Kanae smiled. "Since Shinobu isn't willing to tell me, then your big sister will just have to experience it for herself."
Having declared her intent, Kanae looked at Suyan, a mixture of heavy anxiety and budding anticipation swirling in her heart. "May I?"
Suyan, of course, would never turn down such a wonderful offer. Still, to be polite, he asked for her consent one final time before making a move.
"Mm," Kanae softly hummed in affirmation.
She closed her eyes, her breathing growing long and deep, her eyelashes trembling restlessly.
Seeing this, Suyan didn't hesitate. Under Shinobu's utterly stunned gaze, he leaned forward and captured Kanae's lips.
With just a simple touch, Kanae's brain instantly short-circuited. The fun fact Suyan had just shared—that you could breathe through your nose while kissing—was entirely thrown out the window.
Her entire body locked up, stiff as a board.
A short while later, just like her sister moments before, her body went entirely limp. Sinking down, she slotted perfectly into Suyan's arms, sharing the limited space side-by-side with Shinobu.
