Chapter 64 - Chpt 58: Beyond the Horizon

Zeth stood at the edge of the Viridian City docks, the cold wind of the evening biting at his face. In his tactical case, eight badges shimmered—a feat that would make any rookie trainer believe they were a god. But Zeth wasn't a rookie, and he wasn't a fool.

"Data-Zero, run the Indigo League entry requirements again. Direct feed from the League's central server."

[Query Result: Indigo Plateau Championship Series.]

Entry Requirement: 8 Regional Badges.

Format: Annual Knockout Tournament (Top 128 Trainers).

Advancement: Must win the Tournament three separate years to earn "Elite Candidate" status.

Current Champion Tier: Level 80–85 (Apex Legendaries and Psuedo-Legends).

Elite Four Tier: Level 65–75.

[Current Team Evaluation: Level 35–45. Tier: Senior Peak. Threat Level: Negligible to Elite Hierarchy.]

"Exactly," Zeth muttered, his eyes narrowing as he looked toward the distant, jagged peaks of the Plateau. "If I go there now, I'm just fodder for the cameras. I'd be a 'prodigy' who gets crushed in the first round by some veteran who's been grinding for twenty years."

He looked at his team. They were strong, but they were biological—they needed time to grow, to let their abilities mature into the Masteries he had seen in the Bio-Lab. He couldn't force the Shelgon to evolve, and he couldn't force the Charizard to match a Champion's ace without more "fuel."

"We aren't going North," Zeth said, turning his back on the Indigo path. "We're going South. To the Orange Archipelago."

[Data-Zero Analysis: The Orange Islands. A lawless, semi-tropical region outside the primary Kanto jurisdiction. Known for: Extreme weather Gates, unique regional variants, and the 'Orange Crew'—Elite-level trainers who operate without the League's rigid rules.]

"It's the perfect blind spot," Zeth said, boarding a high-speed, black-market cutter docked in the shadows. "The League won't look for an 'Anomaly' there, and Team Rocket's influence is spread thin across the islands. It's a place to train where the environment is as dangerous as the opponents."

Zeth jumped from the boat before it even touched the sand, his boots sinking into the white tropical grains. He released his team immediately.

"Everyone out. This isn't a gym match. This is a survival grind."

The Lunar Charizard (Lvl 39), Zenith Cloyster (Lvl 40), Emerald Shelgon (Lvl 38), Houndoom (Lvl 45), Croagunk (Lvl 35), and Rhyhorn (Lvl 38) fanned out in a professional diamond formation.

"Croagunk, Anticipation on the gate's pulse! Shelgon, Overcoat active—I don't know what kind of spores that rift is leaking."

The Croagunk shivered, its eyes darting toward the violet tear. It sensed the power within—wild, untamed, and far beyond the "tame" Pokémon of the Kanto routes. This was the raw reality of the Orange Islands.

"We don't leave this island until the gate is cleared," Zeth whispered, heading into the neon-green brush. "Let's see what a B-Rank reality looks like."
