Chapter 57 - Chpt 51: Glacial Strait

The floor of the secret vault didn't just crack; it disintegrated under the force of the Lunar Charizard's first Dragon Pulse. Zeth and his team plummeted into the darkness of the Fuchsia drainage tunnels, landing in a rushing torrent of cold, briny water that led directly out to the Southern Sea.

"Shellder, out! Withdraw and stabilize our drift!" Zeth shouted, surfacing in the turbulent current.

The Shellder clamped onto Zeth's tactical rucksack, its shell acting as a buoyant anchor as they were swept out of the city's pipe system and into the open ocean. Behind them, the Fuchsia Gym was silhouetted against a series of rhythmic, blue-white flashes—Lorelei's Cloyster units were already sweeping the area with Blizzard to freeze the exit points.

"Data-Zero, give me the thermal gradient of the Seafoam route," Zeth commanded, his teeth chattering from the sudden cold.

[Environmental Analysis: Ocean temperature dropping. Extreme localized cooling detected. Lorelei's vanguard is salt-seeding the clouds. A Class-4 Arctic Storm is being manufactured to pin us against the coast.]

The sea between Fuchsia and the Seafoam Islands was rapidly turning into a graveyard of jagged floes. Lorelei wasn't just searching for them; she was terraforming the battlefield to favor her Ice-types.

"Charizard, stay low! Use Eclipse Aura to dampen their sonar!"

The Lunar Charizard hovered just inches above the water, its tattered wings beating silently. The pale-green glow of its scales was partially obscured by the thick, unnatural fog. Because of the Purple-tier potential jump, the Charizard's presence was now a "black hole" for psychic and light-based detection.

"Shellder, use Icicle Spear to shatter the floes in our path! Five-shot bursts, don't stop!"

The Shellder, fueled by its 25% Skill Link mastery, unleashed a mechanical barrage. Every five seconds, five spears of ice hammered into the encroaching floes, clearing a narrow lane for Zeth to swim through while holding onto the Charizard's tail-claws for stability.

A massive, bioluminescent shape rose from the depths. It wasn't Lorelei herself, but one of her elite scouts: a Lvl 54 Dewgong. The beast's horn glowed with the jagged energy of Sheer Cold.

"It's targeting our vitals!" Zeth realized. "Bagon, out! Headbutt the surface—create a percussion wave!"

The True Gold Bagon appeared on a floating chunk of ice. It slammed its skull into the frozen surface with such force that the resulting shockwave disrupted the Dewgong's aim. The Sheer Cold beam hissed past Zeth's head, instantly flash-freezing a ten-meter radius of seawater into a solid pillar.

"Charizard, Shadow Ball! Target the blowhole!"

The Charizard spun in mid-air, its wings carving through the fog. A sphere of chaotic, dark energy formed and slammed into the Dewgong as it breached. The Eclipse Aura caused the Shadow Ball to implode upon contact, dragging the Dewgong back into the depths.

"We can't stay in the open water," Zeth gasped, his limbs feeling heavy from the onset of hypothermia. "There's a hidden Gate-rift in the Seafoam caverns. If we can reach it, we can bypass the League's blockade and slip into the Cinnabar trench."

The towering cliffs of the Seafoam Islands loomed out of the fog like the teeth of a giant. The entrance was a narrow, ice-slicked cave that groaned with the weight of the tides.

"One last push! Shellder, Icicle Crash to seal the entrance behind us!"

As they surged into the cavern, Shellder summoned a massive pillar of ice from the ceiling, slamming it down to block the tunnel. The roar of the ocean was suddenly muffled, replaced by the eerie, crystalline silence of the deep rifts.

Zeth collapsed onto the frozen sand of the inner beach, his team gathering around him. The Charizard's tail-flame provided the only warmth in the cavern, its blue-white light reflecting off the "True Gold" scales of the Bagon and the jagged shell of the Shellder.

"Data-Zero... status," Zeth whispered.

[Current Team Status - Internal Audit]

Lunar Charizard (Lvl 37): Purple Tier. Energy levels at 60%.

Bagon (Lvl 31): True Gold Tier. Physical integrity: 95%.

Shellder (Lvl 24): Skill Link Mastery: 32%.

Location: Seafoam Sub-Level 3 (Restricted Rift Zone).

Zeth looked deeper into the cave. There was a faint, rhythmic pulsing coming from the earth—a signature he recognized from Cinnabar.

"We aren't alone here," Zeth said, standing up and checking his gear. "The League isn't just guarding these islands. They're hiding something."

The interior of the Seafoam caverns was a cathedral of ice, but as Zeth delved deeper into Sub-Level 3, the natural frost gave way to smooth, reinforced alloy walls. The rhythmic pulsing wasn't geological; it was the hum of a massive power grid.

"Data-Zero, mask our signature," Zeth whispered, leaning against the cold metal. "If Lorelei's forward scouts are still top-side, they'll pick up the energy spike if we trip any sensors."

[System Protocol: Passive Stealth Active. Analyzing localized power draw... This facility is drawing enough wattage to sustain a small city. Primary function: Cryogenic Stasis.]

Zeth rounded a corner and stopped dead. Behind a massive, triple-layered glass partition sat a row of pressurized incubation tanks. Unlike the common fossils found in the Pewter Museum, these weren't mere rocks. They were "Living Fossils"—genetic material suspended in a nutrient-rich, gold-tinted fluid that glowed with an intense, ancient radiation.

Zeth stepped closer, his breath hitching as he read the digital readout on the central tank.

[Biological Research: Specimen Data]

Species: Aerodactyl (Primal Variant)

Potential: Deep Gold (Extremely Rare - Champion Tier Ceiling).

Status: Incubation (92% Viability).

Note: Genetic markers indicate a high concentration of 'Rift-Matter.' This specimen has been augmented with 'Perfection' grade catalysts to force a potential jump from Orange to Deep Gold.

"Deep Gold," Zeth muttered, his eyes reflecting the amber glow of the tanks. "The League isn't just protecting the islands. They're mass-producing high-potential war machines. If these hatch, they'll have a fleet of flyers that can outpace anything the Rockets have."

Zeth reached the central console, but the screen flashed a crimson warning. The Soul Badge pulsed in his pocket, but the interface remained locked.

[Access Denied: Level 7 Clearance Required. Current Identity: [UNREGISTERED]. Error: Biometric Mismatch.]

"The Badge isn't enough," Zeth hissed, his eyes darting to the security cameras. "It's a key to the city's locks, but this is a High-League black site. They only open for 'Senior' rank trainers or higher."

[Analysis: Neural-Link required. If the User interfaces the 'Primal Spark' with the console's auxiliary data-port, I can attempt a 'Brute-Force' identity spoof using the residual signatures from the Cinnabar Breach.]

"Do it. My arm is already burning—might as well make it useful."

Zeth slammed his blackened hand onto the terminal. The Primal Spark flared, violet veins of "Dead-Data" surging into the console. The system screamed, its cooling fans spinning to a whine as Data-Zero tore through the League's encryption layers, mimicking the biometric frequency of a high-ranking official lost during the Cinnabar disaster.

[Override Successful. Identity Spoofed: [ARCHIVE 00-41]. Access Granted. Emergency Extraction Initiated.]

The glass hissed open, releasing a cloud of sub-zero vapor. Zeth reached in, his hand closing around the Primal Amber Core. The ancient energy fought back, a surge of "Deep Gold" radiation arcing through his nerves.

The Bagon roared as the stray radiation washed over it, its physical density tightening even further. Shellder, still attached to Zeth's pack, began to glow with a sharp, crystalline light as it absorbed the overflow.

Bagon (Lvl 32): True Gold Potential (Integrity increased by 15%).

Shellder (Lvl 26): Potential Shift: Yellow → Green. (Skill Link Mastery increased to 38%).

Zeth slammed the Amber Core into a lead-lined containment canister just as the facility's secondary alarms began to wail. The "spoofed" clearance was already being flagged as a breach.

"We have what we came for," Zeth said, his voice strained. "Charizard, Dragon Pulse the ceiling! We need an exit before the 'Deep Gold' guardians wake up."

From the shadows of the deeper tanks, a pair of glowing red eyes opened. A Lvl 55 Omastar (Deep Gold potential) began to unfurl its spiked tentacles, the water in its tank boiling with ancient fury.
