Chapter 16 - Bloody night

Chapter 15

Keifer's point of view

I miss him so much...

I don't know...but a voice inside me was telling me to tell Jayjay everything before Tripp or Yuri did anything...

It was very rainy and cold...

I couldn't go and tell him, so I chose to call...

It rang a few times. Then he answered, but it wasn't Jayjay...

[Hello?] said a male voice.

"Hello? Who is this?" I said.

[Tss, don't you recognize me?]

Tss?

This...this...this...is Tripp?

"Tripp?" I said.

[Yes, you guessed right]

"What are you doing with Jayjay's phone?" I asked.

[You interrupted our sleep...I'm hanging up]

"DON'T HANG UP!" I shouted.

[What's up?]

"IF YOU DO ANYTHING TO HIM, I'LL DIG UP YOUR GRAVE!"

[Tss, don't worry, I'm not you] and ended the call.

I immediately turned on the tracking device and checked Jayjay's location.

I'd never seen this place before. I guess... Jayjay was at Trippin's house...

I immediately got in my car and set off. The rain was terrible, but that wasn't enough to stop me...

Finally, I arrived.

I got out of the car at full speed and went into the house and saw them...

Tripp hadn't done anything yet... He was stroking Jayjay's hair... Jayjay was in a deep sleep...

Tripp noticed me;

"H-how did you find this place?" he said as he came towards me.

"Watson tactics," I said and punched him hard.

He fell to the ground. I saw this as an opportunity and climbed on top of him and continued punching him.

"I told you not to touch what's mine!"

I punched him until my anger subsided. The last time I looked, he was covered in blood...

I got up. I went to Jayjay. I couldn't take him...it would attract attention.

I kissed him on the forehead.

"I'm sorry Jay, but I have to leave you here. You'll be mine soon...wait and see," I said.

Just as I was about to leave, I saw a pen and note on a table...at least leaving some evidence wouldn't hurt...

Jayjay's point of view

My eyelids felt like tons of heavy rocks. There was a howling wind in my ears and the rhythm of heavy raindrops hitting the windows. Where was I?

I slowly opened my eyes. The room was pitch black, only the flashes of lightning outside briefly bathed it in white, then everything was plunged back into darkness. I was in Tripp's bedroom. I had a fever, and he had put me here…

"Tripp?" I whispered. My voice was hoarse. "Tripp? Are you there?"

There was no response. But there was a strange, heavy smell in the room. Like rusty iron…the smell of blood.

I tried to get out of bed, but my head was spinning terribly. Holding onto the wall, I reached for the lamp on the nightstand to turn it on. The moment I switched it on, I covered my mouth with my hand to keep from screaming.

Tripp…was lying sprawled on the floor.

"Tripp! No, no, no!"

I quickly knelt beside him. His face was a mess; his eyebrow was split, his lip was split, and his shirt was covered in blood. He was unconscious. "Tripp, wake up! Please wake up!" My hands trembling, I checked his pulse. It was very weak, but it was beating.

Just then, a note on the ground caught my attention.

"This is the price of touching something that doesn't belong to you 😈"

...

Keifer's point of view

As raindrops beat against the windshield of our car, the knuckles of my hands gripping the steering wheel were white. I didn't even care about the ache in my right hand. That guy, that copycat called "Tripp," had paid the price for touching Jayjay.

Seeing him like that, stroking Jayjay's hair, the monster inside me was unleashed.

Now, in the darkness of midnight, I was driving down empty roads. There was a strange emptiness inside me. I paused for a moment while hitting that guy...

His eyes, his gaze, even his pained groans were so familiar. It felt like I was punching myself...

"Who are you, Tripp Palma?" I murmured, looking at my reflection in the rearview mirror. "And why did my heart ache with every punch I landed on you?"

I threw the phone away. I knew Jayjay would wake up to that sight. I wanted him to hate me, I wanted him to fear me. Because I knew that if he didn't hate me, my love for him would turn us both to ashes...

Yuri's point of view

I was in my home library, reviewing the files my father had sent me, but my mind was on Jayjay...

He'd said he'd gone with Tripp. Tripp... when I combined what I'd learned from Edrix with who that guy was, my hair stood on end...

The door suddenly opened. It was Angelo. He looked like a piece of a wreck.

"Yuri, do you know where Keifer is?" he asked in an icy tone.

"No boss, he's probably at home. Why?"

Angelo put the tablet down on the table. An emergency signal from Jayjay's phone was flashing on the screen.

I jumped up. "Boss, is Jayjay in danger?"

"I don't know, Yuri," Angelo said, putting his gun back in his pocket. "Come on, what are we waiting for, let's go..."

Jayjay's point of view

I cradled Tripp's head in my lap. My hands were stained with his blood. I was crying, my sobs filling the room.

"I'm sorry, Tripp...it's all my...my fault..."

Just then, Tripp's fingers moved slightly. He groaned softly and opened his eyes. He looked at me, but his gaze was so strange...it was as if he didn't see me...

"Mom?" Tripp murmured. "Why did you leave me?...Keifer...where is he?"

I turned around. Keifer? How did Tripp know Keifer? And why was he talking about him as if he were his "brother"...

I heard a car brake hard outside. The garden gate burst open.

I knew who it was...
