A few years ago, he had been a third-year student at Fujimi Academy.
He once dreamed of getting into the same school as the girl he admired—the top institution in the country, the University of Tokyo.
Because of this, studying became his entire life.
Aside from that, Nan's biggest hobby was lurking near her home.
He would secretly watch her every move.
He believed this routine would continue until he successfully enrolled in the University of Tokyo.
Then, he would stand before her and say a single line.
"Hi, Senpai. Do you remember me? I'm your junior, Nan."
However, just as he was finishing his third year and preparing for the university entrance exams...
The unexpected happened.
He saw the girl he admired with a senior who was also from the University of Tokyo.
In that moment, he wanted to rush over and demand, 'Why did you betray our promise?'
But he didn't, because there had never been a promise between them; it was all just a delusion in his mind.
Furthermore, that man was tall, handsome, and wealthy. Nan had nothing but his grades—no friends, no social life. Compared to him, Nan felt like a rat in the gutter.
To quote a line from a movie he once saw, they were a match made in heaven, a perfect couple; what right did a monster like him have to speak?
From that day on, he snapped.
He dyed his hair a garish green, stopped caring about his studies, and abandoned his dream of entering Tokyo University.
His only remaining obsession was lurking near her home to stalk her daily life with her boyfriend.
He even thought about writing a light novel to show the world how deep his love was.
Unfortunately, an editor dismissed his work as nothing more than sentimental trash.
It had zero chance of being published, and even when he posted it online for free, hardly anyone bothered to read it.
When he finally heard that she had married her boyfriend and moved abroad...
He lost it completely.
He was no longer the gloomy, antisocial Nan of the past; he began hanging out with thugs and biker gangs.
Eventually, he became known in the area as Green-Haired Nan.
When the zombie apocalypse hit, he gathered a group of punks around him.
They ambushed travelers at this gas station, using it as a place to vent his deep-seated rage and insanity on anyone who passed by.
And today.
A perfect-looking couple had arrived at the gas station.
Seeing them reminded him of his senpai and that man whose name he never even knew.
So, Nan told the black-haired man that if he left the purple-haired woman behind, he would let him go.
He wanted to prove—if only to his memory of her—that men like that were trash and that only someone like him was truly worthy.
Nan knew deep down that this was just a way to salvage what little self-esteem he had left.
But he didn't care.
He was going to do it anyway.
To his surprise, the man didn't look frightened when threatened.
Instead, he simply turned around and told Nan that he was in for a world of hurt.
Hearing this, Nan couldn't help but laugh.
The man in front of him wasn't even armed and looked completely helpless.
Meanwhile, Nan was surrounded by over a dozen subordinates, all of them carrying weapons.
It was fifteen against one.
The odds were entirely in his favor.
How could this guy possibly make him regret anything?
Before he knew it, his neck was in a vice-like grip, and he was lifted off the ground.
Suffocation!
The cold terror of death began to flood his mind.
He struggled desperately to pry the hand away.
But it felt like it was forged from solid steel. No matter how much strength he mustered, the grip didn't budge.
In his desperation, he could only look to his subordinates for help.
"Let go of our boss!"
One of the punks, seeing the signal, swung a steel pipe at Su Yan's head.
Su Yan caught the pipe with his free hand and followed up with a kick.
The kick sent the thug flying several meters back into a support pillar. The impact made a sickening thud.
The man collapsed, barely breathing; even if he survived, he would likely be crippled for life.
"M-Monster!"
Someone finally shouted.
Seeing the tide turn, the others instinctively tried to bolt.
They weren't being paid for this—actually, being a thug was a net loss—and the realization made them even more eager to get away.
Su Yan said coldly, "Don't even think about running. The first one to move dies!"
He tossed the steel pipe, and it slammed into the ground at the feet of a fleeing thug.
One end buried itself deep in the reinforced concrete.
Looking at the embedded pipe...
The thugs swallowed hard. Any thoughts of escape vanished instantly.
"But that's not enough," Su Yan added. "From now on, if even one of you runs, I'll break the legs of everyone who stays. If you want to test me, go ahead."
With that, he tossed the green-haired punk aside.
"Cough, cough, cough!"
Nan gasped for air, his lungs burning as he realized he had messed with the wrong person.
The other thugs didn't even dare to breathe, let alone run. They glared at each other, terrified that someone might bolt and get them all punished.
As for betting that Su Yan was bluffing?
They didn't dare take that risk.
It was the crab mentality—a single crab could easily climb out of a bucket.
But when there's a group, they pull down anyone who tries to escape.
Su Yan reached out and manifested two chains. One wrapped around the crippled thug and dragged him over.
The other snaked into a dark corner and hauled out a zombie he had detected using the En technique.
Busujima Saeko watched in confusion, unsure of what he was doing.
However, she remained silent and observant, trusting him.
Su Yan ripped an arm off the zombie and let the blood drip into the mouth of the unconscious thug.
"What are you doing?" Saeko finally asked.
"A zombie virus infectivity test," Su Yan replied.
He waited for the results.
After a while, there were no signs of the man turning.
Next, he cut the man's skin and introduced the zombie blood directly into his system.
The result was the same.
This ruled out simple bloodborne infection.
Then, Su Yan turned his gaze toward the struggling zombie.
He knew that those bitten turned.
So, was the infection caused by saliva? Or was it something in the teeth?
With a thought, he manifested a pair of pliers and began pulling the zombie's teeth out, one by one.
The sight sent chills down the thugs' spines.
Only the leader, Nan, realized that if this continued, they would be next on the operating table.
He didn't want to die, and he certainly didn't want to become a mindless monster.
He wanted to see his senpai again, even if just for a moment.
Nan quietly picked up a dropped knife and lunged at Su Yan when no one was looking, moving silently.
In that moment, he felt as if the spirits of every legendary ninja and assassin possessed him.
He delivered the most spectacular strike of his life.
But Su Yan dodged as if he had eyes in the back of his head.
"Honestly, you just don't..." Su Yan began, sounding annoyed.
He was about to break the man's legs as punishment...
But when he looked at the situation, he realized it wasn't necessary.
The punk had already received his comeuppance.
Nan had been charging so fast that he couldn't stop when Su Yan stepped aside.
He slammed right into the chained zombie.
Worse still, his mouth landed perfectly against the zombie's.
Even though the zombie had no teeth, its instincts drove it to feast on whatever was in front of it.
And so, a truly horrifying scene unfolded before everyone's eyes.
Nan was French-kissing a zombie!
