Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven: Girls' Night Out I (Under the Bonfire)

Kadesha stood outside the door of the ward, chewing her nails in a nervous habit while she watched the movements in the ward through the translucent glass of the door. She saw the doctors running around and giving her some sort of gas.

"Kadesha." Davis' voice echoed through the hall as he ran to her, his face the very definition of panic.

"She's being stabilised." Kadesha explained as he approached her. Davis calmed down and looked through the glass. He restrained himself from tearing the door open.

"What happened? She hasn't had an attack in a while." Davis asked, holding Kadesha's hands.

"She went to get a trolley, then I heard a crash and paparazzi and I saw her. She was just uncomfortable and I pulled her away. Next thing I knew, she was having an attack." Kadesha explained, still confused herself as she tried to recollect what happened. Davis ruffled his hair in frustration.

"But we face crowds and paparazzi crazier than that and she is always so calm and collected. How..." Kadesha trailed off, trying to figure out what went wrong.

"She uses drugs for it. Her attacks are nasty so she uses pills for public shows. Also, she doesn't move close to paparazzi." Davis explained while watching nurses moving in the ward through glass. "Thank you Kadesha. It could have been worse."

"You're welcome. I'll just come back later." Davis nodded as Kadesha left.

She was still struggling to wrap her head around the fact that Amelia, who was always so perfect in dealing with paparazzi was actually scared of it.

But how?

There was no way a pill would work so well and also boost confidence for such a long time.

Or where they stimulants?

Like...

Kadesha shook her head. She trusted Amelia enough to know she won't do drugs.

Block 28 room 16

It was a Saturday morning. Kadesha and Skye were cleaning the room with soft kpop playing in the background.

Skye was doing more of dancing than actually clearing her side though. She sang the lyrics out loud and would even do videos instead of clean. Kadesha threw an empty soda can at her.

"Hey! Respect the video at least." Skye pouted and adjusted her hair back in place.

"I'll throw the mop next. Can you get back to cleaning?" Kadesha threw her stuffed unicorn at her next.

"Suga!" Skye bubbled as she picked up the unicorn. She introduced the toy to her video while Kadesha groaned.

Finally, she started cleaning.

"We will both do Choco's side." Skye said.

"Her side is never dirty." Kadesha chuckled.

Just then, the door made a ding sound as a key card was swiped through its slot and it opened. Amelia stepped in with a tired look. Skye bounced on her.

"My baby! Kadesha is so boring. She wasn't annoying me like you. How are you? It's been a week hasn't it? Oh I missed you." Skye rambled, pouting like a baby while squeezing her in a bear hug.

"I missed you too, but can you let go?" Amelia managed to say breathlessly. "I can't breathe."

"Oops, sorry!" Skye immediately let her go and she exhaled in relief.

"You good Choco?" Kadesha asked.

"Better then I have been in a week at least. Thank you both for coming to check on me."

"Thank us by joining cleaning." Skye stretched the broom to her.

"Actually, sick leave." Amelia stretched with exaggerated tiredness and went to her bed. "Besides, you guys just need to clean around a bit and toss out my trash. Nothing too much. I love you." Amelia fell on her bed, ignored both girls protests and strapped on her sleeping mask.

"Spoilt child." Skye scoffed.

"Well, let's get to it." Kadesha tossed Skye the duster. Skye still grumbled as she started cleaning Amelia's side reluctantly.

Class 12

"So, pages 21 and 22 will be your assignment. Do the exercises there over the weekend." The teacher closed her textbook before casting a concerned glance at Amelia. "Your friends said you were indisposed. I hope you are okay now? You can come for explanation on any note." She offered with a smile before walking out of the class just as the final bell rang.

"Hallelujah! Mr. Marcus isn't in school." Mavis announced and threw her pen up happily. The moment was short lived as the pen's nib poked her head as it landed.

"Thank goodness." A classmate quipped and left the classroom.

People started gathering in cliques around tables. Skye and Lisa were whispering to each other, holding notepads and writing whatever it is they were talking about. After writing, they got up and marched to the front of the class. Lisa snapped her fingers repeatedly until she had everyone's attention.

"Good day everyone. As your most honourable school president," she guestured to herself, "and my wonderful voice," she pointed to Skye, "we have come up with a variety of themes for this year's founders day. We have the carnival theme, old-school theme, Halloween themed, Christmas theme, blacktied theme and royal theme. Please final years..." Everyone groaned before she could continue. She and Skye started laughing.

"Guys please vote. Really. You heard now, we announced it here first." Skye said, faking a stern expression.

"There will be a ballot box right in front of the notice board. You start voting from tomorrow. Guys please." Lisa pleaded with a smile. Everyone mumbled in agreement and Lisa smiled.

"Thank you. Now boys, cast your ugly gazes away. Girls, can you gather round please." All the girls gathered around a table while the guys continued their discussion.

"Girls' night!" Skye announced and the girls whooped. "Yup. I was thinking bonfire kind of thing?" She suggested.

"Nah. I wasn't made for the woods." A classmate joked.

"I actually vote bonfire."

"Me too!"

"Sure, me three."

Every girl eventually agreed on a bonfire.

"Amazing!" Lisa clapped cheerfully. "Kadesha and Skye are handling it."

"Wha--"

"Awesome. Thank you for agreeing. That would be all." Lisa cut Kadesha off before she could protest and the girls disbanded into their cliques and went back to their seats forming groups.

Kadesha glared playfully at Lisa as she went to Cody. She wanted to yank her off but she just returned to the twins side.

"Sissy, you won't believe what gist is trending on Tea." Victor gasped, tapping Victoria, who was gaming, rapidly till her skin reddened.

"Jesus! Victor!" She snapped but Victor still shoved the article in her face. "What is that?" She collected the phone and read through before breaking into laughter. She showed Kadesha.

"The heck? 'The last K&Q performance shows that Vee and KDA are most likely to be in a relationship'. What the heck?" Kadesha burst in laughter.

"It's actually really trending though. Watch this." Victor scrolled to a recorded scene of their last performance. There, they were dancing and Victoria wrapped her arms around Kadesha and pecked her on the cheek. The duo burst in laughter.

"The song literally said 'kiss me' which is why I pecked her. More publicity for us anyways." Victoria said cooly. Victor shrugged and continued scrolling through his phone while Kadesha simultaneously played the video game with Victoria and listened to whatever gist Victor was telling her.

Kingston Park,

The girls sat around a bonfire set somewhere in the midst of the trees in the park. They sat in a circle on logs with snacks and drinks set in their middle. The girls talked while the set was being perfected and only began when the last girl came.

Mavis stood up and stepped in the middle. She was wearing a simple denim trousers and strapless top.

"Welcome to our girls' night everyone!" The girls cheered and clapped. "I am your host for this evening and we will kick start this evening with a little karaoke. So, I'll play a song and for a minute, whoever the microphone is with has to sing along and pass it. The best singer gets free algebra assignment answers from the group." Everyone let out a loud cheer at that while Mavis brought out a speaker and set it down. She gave the microphone to the first girl and started playing the song.

Everyone cheered and clapped along as each person sang and passed the microphone. Some people even made mistakes with the lyrics of some songs. It was a fun game. Mavis collected the microphone at the end.

"Okay. Give yourselves a round of applause." She urged and everyone clapped and cheered. "Now, Kadesha, Conor and Vicky, pick the best. You three are specialists in music so..." She waved her hand at them dismissively. The three, despite the murdering looks on their faces, still huddled together and started talking.

"While that is going on, Truth or Dare, freaky theme." Mavis clapped as she announced and everyone clapped along. She brought out a circular chart with a pointer. She spun the pointer and it landed between Lisa and a classmate.

"Shoot Ven." Mavis urged.

"Truth or dare Lisa."

"Dare."

Ven rubbed her hands together with a challenging glint in her eyes.

"Turn Skylar on."

Cody choked on her drink and Lisa's face turned pink.

"Wait, w-what d-do you mean?" Lisa stuttered. Ven's face didn't look like she was going to take back her dare.

"Either that, or three shots." Mavis announced.

Reluctantly, Lisa got up and started advancing to Cody. Everyone cheered and moved away from Cody.

"No kissing, no touching. What do you pick?" Ven announced. Lisa thought for a moment.

"Play water by Tyla." Lisa asked Mavis while taking off her jacket. She was left wearing a body hug strapless jumpsuit and tossed her jacket aside. She also took off her shoes. Cody was laughing uncontrollably.

The song started playing and Lisa started doing a seductive dance.

"Oou. Singles in the house, seal your eyelids." Amelia joked and everyone laughed.

The dare ended with an electric kiss between the two after which they "excused" themselves.

"Alright. Next." Mavis spun the pointer and it landed between her and Victoria.

"Truth or--"

"Truth please." Victoria immediately answered and everyone laughed.

"Okay. Did you or did you not feel a thing with Lisa's dance?" Mavis asked, raising her brows mischievously. Victoria laughed.

"I'm straight. I felt the urge to join her, but nothing else."

Mavis rolled her eyes and spun the pointer again. It landed on two classmates where one dared the other to talk sexy to Victoria. It was an awfully awkward yet funny situation till the dare ended. Then, the pointer fell on Victoria and Kadesha. Victoria asked Kadesha what turns her on and she said "sexy eyes". Again, the pointer fell on Cody and Ven.

"Truth or dare Ven."

"Dare."

"Seduce Kadesha."

Kadesha almost choked on her marshmallow while Cody smirked.

"Please be fast." She urged and Ven looked like she might actually punch the smirk off her face before she gave in and went to sit beside Kadesha.

She stared deep into Kadesha's eyes and Kadesha did the same. In a matter of seconds, Ven started blushing.

"Okay, okay. I'm supposed to be seducing you." She spluttered.

"Dare failed. That's all that matters. You have my bank details, right?" Cody taunted and Ven cursed under her breath.

"I'll send your damn money." She huffed and went back to sit. Cody and Lisa gave each other a high-five.

"Revenge is so sweet, isn't it Ven?" Lisa teased.

"Let's get back to our game please." Mavis said and spun the pointer again.

The rounds that followed were intense and funny. Most girls did their dares and answered questions while most of them just took shots instead while very few paid to avert or change requests.

Mavis spun the pointer again, this time it landed between Cody and Victoria.

"Truth or Dare?" Cody asked.

"Truth."

"Vee, during our performance, you pecked Kadesha."

"We are not dating." Victoria immediately defended calmly.

"That wasn't the question. When I asked Ven to seduce Kadesha, you weren't smiling. That dare didn't seem to sit right with you."

"What are you insinuating?" Victoria asked, still as calm as ever.

"Vee do you like Kadesha?"
