I walked out of Jaden's room and slowly closed the door behind me, careful not to wake him. The hallway felt too quiet, with everything that had happened today.
The system had been quiet for a while, but the weight of its last word still sat like lead in my chest. If I care for Jaden, it means I get more points and I can unlock some truth.
"Hey… how is he?" Stephan's voice suddenly came from the side, making me jump.
I turned to him and took in a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart. "Hey… you scared me."
He turned toward the door and sighed. "Have you done something that made you scared?"
I rolled my eyes, irritation flaring up instantly. "Excuse me…" I mumbled, about to move off, but he pulled me back gently by the arm.
"How did you get back?" I glared at him. "I got a cab." He nodded his head. I was about to move off again when he stopped me once more.
"I fired his driver. I will be entrusting Lucas to both of you from now on."
