Chapter 40 - "A Busy Day."

An hour later.

The two of them walked out of the villa.

Honestly, with scenery like this around them, the whole experience really did feel… different.

But several zombies had gathered near the villa, wandering back and forth outside the gate.

They'd probably been drawn in by Mafuyu's voice earlier.

"Don't kill them here. You'll make a mess of the place," Julian said, stopping Mafuyu just as she was about to go collect some heads.

So the two of them led the zombies away like people walking a pack of dogs and headed onto the bridge.

One kick each.

Splash.

Every zombie went flying straight into the sea.

Problem solved.

"Given the time right now…"

"It's too late to start hauling supplies, but too early to head back…"

Julian thought for a moment.

"Alright. Come with me to check out a factory."

He'd just remembered the solar panel factory that the Lamborghini guy mentioned before he died.

Solar panels were perfect. Once they were moved to the island, there'd be no worry about people stealing them, and they didn't need guards like food supplies did.

"Okay!" Mafuyu nodded immediately.

As long as she was following Julian, she didn't care where they went.

And if she worked hard enough today, maybe she'd even get a reward later…

Burp.

The two of them turned the car around and headed for the address the Lamborghini guy had given.

There were fewer zombies wandering the streets compared to a couple days ago.

Julian knew why.

The zombies had started migrating toward places where survivors might still be hiding—apartments, villas, malls, and the like.

After all, living people made noise.

And after two or three days, plenty of survivors had already eaten through the food they had at home and started going outside to search for more.

Once they stepped outside, zombies would chase them.

And when people were chased, their instinct was to run into buildings.

This constantly shifted where zombies gathered throughout the city.

As a result, there were noticeably fewer of them out on the open roads.

Since their truck was empty, Julian drove a little faster.

Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the factory.

At the entrance and across the open yard, zombies in worker uniforms could be seen wandering around.

Looks like the factory had fallen too.

Julian stepped out of the truck and grabbed the Hammer of Destruction he'd "borrowed" from Asuka earlier.

The craftsmanship on this thing was seriously solid.

It felt great in his hands.

Julian swung the hammer and smashed it straight into the zombie approaching him.

The poor thing's head was driven directly into its chest.

"Now that's satisfying!"

The impact made Julian grin.

Even those tough, thick-skinned mutated zombies would probably get blown apart by this hammer.

The only downside was how exhausting it was to use.

Against regular zombies, he'd probably get tired after a few dozen kills. A knife was definitely easier.

Maybe once his strength improved a bit more, it'd feel more comfortable to use.

Julian crushed the heads of several nearby zombies with overwhelming force before pulling open the factory's retractable gate.

He drove the truck straight up to the warehouse entrance.

Inside the warehouse, a few zombie workers were still "holding their posts."

Of course, they weren't exactly working hard.

The moment Julian opened the door, they swarmed toward him.

Still in the honeymoon phase with his new hammer, Julian swung it sideways in a wide arc.

Boom!

One swing knocked down a whole cluster of zombies.

Even the ones that didn't die instantly had so many broken bones they couldn't even stand up anymore.

"Master, your new weapon is so violent!"

"You're amazing!"

Mafuyu clapped excitedly from the side.

As a loyal little follower, praising the boss was something she had to do regularly.

Sometimes when she buttered him up, the boss would even increase his speed and strength!

Julian glanced at her and chuckled.

Did she really think he didn't know what was going on in that little head of hers?

Just focus on working first.

Julian brought Mafuyu with him as they inspected the warehouse.

Just like the rich kid had said, there were over a thousand solar panels here that hadn't been shipped out yet.

If they moved all of them, Donghu Island would have more than enough electricity—luxury levels, even.

"Mafuyu, keep watch for me while I figure out how to assemble these," Julian said.

Then he opened up one of the panels and started tinkering with it.

The rich kid had claimed their solar panels were extremely easy to install.

After fiddling with it for a bit, Julian realized he hadn't been exaggerating.

Putting them together was about as difficult as connecting a few large display screens.

Even better, every panel came with its own battery storage.

So besides normal power supply, they could still manage a little electricity even on cloudy days.

No wonder they sold so well.

The product quality was genuinely impressive.

That rich kid driving a Lamborghini? Turns out he'd earned it the legit way.

"Mafuyu, load them up!"

Julian decided to empty the place out first.

In the apocalypse, electricity was a huge deal. It directly affected their quality of life.

Mafuyu skillfully hopped onto a forklift.

Hana had taught her how to use it during their downtime.

Half an hour later, they finally filled up two trucks.

They'd probably need two more trips to move everything.

For the next few hours, the two of them got stuck doing the tedious work of hauling supplies.

By the time they finished, the sun was already starting to set.

"Master, I'm a little tired," Mafuyu said, rubbing herself against Julian.

Even with her enhanced physical condition, a whole day of work was exhausting.

"On the truck? Isn't that… a bit much?" Julian frowned.

"I'm starving!" Mafuyu puffed out her cheeks.

Julian sighed and led her into the back of the truck.

Half an hour later, the two of them opened the truck door again.

It was getting close to dark, and driving at night wasn't safe. They couldn't stay here too long.

After luring a group of zombies over to guard the bridge, Julian finally felt comfortable heading back with Mafuyu.

Meanwhile, back at the warehouse…

Hana was bored out of her mind and passing time by looking through Julian's stored supplies.

Little Goldie sat beside her, staring as well, though she clearly didn't understand much of what she was looking at.

Suddenly, Hana felt a wave of dizziness.

"Ah! I haven't eaten in too long… I'm starving!"

Only then did she realize the problem.

Even though Julian had said they were already on their way back, Hana wasn't sure she could hold out any longer.

"I'll just secretly drink a little from the stock…"

"Sister Mafuyu probably won't blame me, right?"

"At worst, I'll just secretly collect more tonight and put it back…"

"....."
