Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Hostile Takeover

The Vancroft Courtyard had become a theater of impossible physics.

A thousand Celestial Knights stood frozen in their tracks, their starlight-lances vibrating at a frequency of sheer, mechanical panic. Ten of their brethren had been reduced to high-density marbles in a single millisecond a feat that violated every known law of the 4th Realm's combat doctrine. To these entities, life was light, and power was the management of that light. Kyros Vancroft, standing in the center of their "Purge Zone," was a light-less variable they could not calculate.

Legate Malachai, the Sun-Eater, did not move. His golden armor groaned as he adjusted his internal core-rotation, the silver rings behind his head spinning so fast they became a blurring halo of white-hot plasma.

Variable: Legate Malachai. Status: Peak Saint (Grade 12).Variable: External Aura. Status: 24,000 Kelvin.Variable: Sovereign Integration. Status: 71.2%.

"You are a scavenger playing with the tools of the abyss," Malachai's voice was no longer a tectonic harmony; it was a jagged, electronic hiss of static. "You think liquidating a few foot-soldiers makes you a Sovereign? I have consumed suns that were denser than your entire lineage. I will erase your 'Void' and turn your remains into a battery for the next thousand years of Vancroft slavery."

Malachai raised both hands. The three silver rings detached from his back, expanding until they circled the entire courtyard.

Action: Initiate Celestial Domain – The Star-Forge.

The temperature in the courtyard surged. The marble floor turned into a lake of white-hot liquid stone. The air was stripped of its nitrogen, replaced by a pure, ionizing radiation that would melt the lungs of a Grade 9 Monarch. Lord Valerius and Marcus were only saved because the sheer pressure of Malachai's domain pushed them into the far corners of the Great Hall, their golden mana-auras flickering like guttering candles in a supernova.

Kyros stood in the center of the lake of fire. His Singularity Body now a translucent, crystalline obsidian did not just resist the heat; it siphoned the kinetic energy of the radiation. The "Event Horizon" around him was a perfect sphere of absolute zero, where the white light of the Star-Forge turned into dull, gray dust the moment it touched his field.

"Your domain is based on the principle of high entropy," Kyros said. His voice was a flat, basaltic vibration that seemed to originate from the center of the earth. "You are wasting $88\%$ of your energy output on illumination and heat variables that have no effect on a Monolith. You are a Saint who has forgotten the basic mathematics of efficiency."

"Illumination is the Law!" Malachai roared.

The Legate lunged. He didn't use a weapon. He became the weapon. His Grade 12 core reached its critical limit, and he struck out with a palm-strike that contained the mass-energy of a localized solar flare.

Variable: Strike Velocity. Status: Relativistic (0.01c).Variable: Impact Force. Status: 4.2  Gigatons.

Kyros didn't dodge. He stepped forward, his right hand rising in a slow, calculated arc to meet the sun-bright palm of the "God."

The collision was silent.

There was no shockwave, because the Event Horizon absorbed the kinetic energy before it could propagate through the air. For a second, the courtyard was a static image: the golden giant of the 4th Realm pressing against the obsidian-skinned child of the Vancroft ruins.

"Action: Initiate The Monolith's Maw (Absolute Phase)," Kyros whispered.

Suddenly, Malachai's golden eyes widened. He felt his mana-rotation the very foundation of his immortality stutter. The "Void" in Kyros's hand wasn't pushing back; it was pulling. It was a gravitational vacuum that had found the "Key-Frequency" of Malachai's core.

"What... what are you doing?" Malachai's voice was a stuttering harmonic. "My core... I can't decouple!"

"A contract is a two-way variable, Legate," Kyros said, his violet-indigo eyes flaring with a lightless energy. "The 4th Realm provided the Vancroft family with mana-loans for twelve centuries. I am now calling in the collateral. Your core is the most efficient asset available for my 80% threshold integration."

Action: Hostile Takeover Phase 01 (Core-Lock).

Kyros's fingers sank into the starlight of Malachai's palm. The golden energy began to turn gray, then black, as it was siphoned through Kyros's arms and into the Void-Obsidian Bastions.

Integration: 71.5%... 72.1%... 72.8%...

"Legion! Kill him!" Malachai shrieked, his silver rings beginning to wobble and spark. "Release the Purge-Spears! Erase the entire sector!"

The nine hundred remaining Knights initiated their final protocol. They raised their lances in unison, the energy of a thousand stars converging into a single, world-ending beam of red light aimed directly at the center of the courtyard.

Variable: Incoming Kinetic Energy. Status: Terminal.Calculation: Sovereign's Gaze (Inversion Mode).

Kyros looked up at the thousand Knights. He didn't move his hand from Malachai's chest. He simply released a Gravitational Pulse that was no longer a push it was a "Fold."

The space between the Knights and Kyros suddenly collapsed. The red Purge-Spears didn't travel through the air; they were "Redirected" by the Event Horizon. The thousand beams of light curved in a perfect, geometric spiral, converging not on Kyros, but on the silver rings of the Legate.

The Star-Forge imploded.

The feedback sent a ripple of absolute void through the courtyard. The thousand Knights were snatched from the air, drawn into the implosion by their own energy. Their armor shattered, their starlight was shredded, and their existence was reduced to a swirling vortex of gray ash that was sucked into Kyros's pores.

Integration: 74.2%... 75.8%... 77.4%...

Malachai was the only one left. The Legate of the 4th Realm was no longer a golden god; he was a withered, gray husk, his armor cracked and dull, his Grade 12 core now visible through his chest as a shrinking, frantic spark of white light.

Kyros stood over him, the violet-black aura around his body now so dense that the marble beneath him was turning into a dark, crystalline substance Void-Quartz.

"The audit is complete, Malachai," Kyros said. His voice was a tectonic decree. "The 4th Realm's investment in this planet has been liquidated. The debt is satisfied."

"You... you cannot... the Sovereigns of the 5th Realm... they will see..." Malachai's voice faded into a dry rattle.

"Let them see," Kyros said, his hand closing around Malachai's core. "By the time they calculate the source of the silence, I will have finished the integration of the 4th Realm's total essence. I am not a variable they can audit. I am the end of their math."

Kyros squeezed.

The Grade 12 core shattered. A blast of pure, unrefined starlight erupted, but it was instantly consumed by the Monolith's Maw. The energy was so vast that Kyros's obsidian skin began to glow with a dark, terrifying violet indigo. His pillars groaned, his bones reaching a density that threatened to pull the entire mountain into his chest.

Integration: 79.1%... 79.6%... 79.9%...

[Milestone Approaching: 80% Foundation Integration.][Physical Status: Singularity Body (Phase 3 - Absolute Obsidian).][Warning: Planetary Gravity affected. Localized shift in Vancroft tectonic plate detected.]

Kyros stood in the silent, empty courtyard. The Legion was gone. The Legate was dust. The Sun-Well was a dry hole in the ground.

Lord Valerius and Marcus were staring at him from the steps of the Great Hall. They didn't look like family; they looked like ants staring at the foot of a mountain. Marcus was weeping silently, his Grade 8 core completely extinguished, his "Genius" status reduced to a joke. Valerius was simply holding his head in his hands, his monarchical pride broken beyond repair.

Kyros looked at them. He felt no triumph. He felt only the cold requirement of the next phase.

"The Validation is over," Kyros decreed, his voice vibrating through the valley below. "The Vancroft lineage is no longer a property of the Heavens. It is an auxiliary variable of the Monolith."

He turned his gaze toward the sky. The red "Combat Frequency" had faded, but far above, in the deep vacuum of the stars, a new, wider frequency was beginning to pulse—the 5th Realm's Audit.

"Variable: Time. Status: Sufficient," Kyros whispered.

He headed toward the North Spire. He needed to hit the 80% threshold before the first Sovereign of the 5th Realm calculated the distance. The harvest of the Gods had been cancelled, but the war for the planet's gravity had only just begun.

Variable: The Vancroft Estate. Status: Secured.Variable: The Higher Realms. Status: Hostile.Current Status: The Architect is moving to the higher board.
