Chapter 22 - The Siphoning of Heaven

The Solar Well was a blinding vortex of liquid divinity, its roar like a thousand suns burning in a single chamber. The heat didn't just singe Leo's skin; it tried to evaporate his very shadow.

"Lyra! Keep them off the ritual circle!" Leo roared over the sound of the vortex.

He didn't wait for a response. He stepped into the pool of liquid light, his True Monarch's Wings flaring wide to act as heat sinks. The moment his boots touched the solar fluid, the Obsidian System shrieked in his mind.

[Incompatible Energy Detected. Initiating Forced Conversion...] [Skill Activation: Soul Siphon - Rank 3.]

Leo plunged his hands into the white-hot core of the Well. A pillar of purple-black energy erupted from his chest, clashing with the gold of the cathedral. The struggle was visceral; Leo's muscles corded and smoked, his violet eyes bleeding darkness as he began to pull the city's "Holy" life force into his own void.

"Stop the heretic!" the lead Paladin screamed, his claymore glowing with a blinding brilliance.

He charged, but Lyra was already a blur of violet-black steel. She didn't just block; she used Void Assassination to flicker between the shadows of the Paladins' own capes.

Clang. Squelch. Clang.

"Your light is a flickering candle," Lyra hissed, her daggers carving deep, necrotic lines through the Paladin's Divine-Grade armor. The Monarch's Brand on her forehead was glowing so fiercely it looked like a third eye of pure shadow.

She was fighting with a desperate, erotic intensity, her movements fueled by the Shared Mana resonance between Leo and Seraphina. Every time Leo absorbed a surge of solar energy, Lyra felt a corresponding wave of heat and power, a "Mature" addiction that made her strikes faster and more lethal.

"Leo," Seraphina's voice whispered, vibrating with a mixture of agony and ecstasy. "The Solar Well... it's resisting. It's linked to the faith of the people above. You aren't just siphoning mana; you're siphoning their belief. Don't stop. Drink it all!"

[Siphon Progress: 35%... 55%... 80%...] [Alert: Evolution Triggered!]

The chamber began to dissolve. The white marble walls cracked, black obsidian crystals erupting from the fissures like a parasitic growth. The liquid light in the well turned a bruised, royal purple.

Leo let out a primal scream as the last of the Solar Well's core was ripped from its foundation and slammed into his spirit. The shockwave didn't just clear the room; it blew the roof off the Cathedral, sending a pillar of dark fire five miles into the sky.

[Level Up! Level 28 -> Level 30.] [Evolution Rank Reached: Shadow Archduke.] [Passive Unlocked: 'Eclipse Domain' - You can now permanently convert sunlight into Obsidian Mana in a 1km radius.]

Leo stood in the center of the now-dead Well, his True Monarch's Wings dripping with liquid purple fire. He looked down at his hands. His skin was no longer marble-pale; it held a faint, metallic sheen, and the obsidian tattoos on his chest were pulsing with the stolen solar energy.

The six Paladins were gone—not dead, but erased, their very essence absorbed into the stones of the floor.

Lyra collapsed at the edge of the pit, her armor steaming, her breath coming in ragged gasps. She looked up at Leo, her eyes glazed with a mixture of exhaustion and a deep, soul-bound worship.

"It's... it's done," she whispered.

Leo looked up through the hole in the ceiling. The sun was rising over Aethelgard, but as its rays hit the city, they didn't bring light. They turned violet as they passed through his Eclipse Domain, casting the entire capital into a permanent, haunting twilight.

"The city has a new sun now," Leo said, his voice echoing through the entire Upper District.

He walked over to Lyra, lifting her with a single hand. The Ecstasy-Boost was still humming in his veins, a lingering heat that demanded more than just victory.

"Seraphina," Leo spoke into the link, his gaze fixed on the cowering city below. "The integration is complete. The Shadow Sanctum and the Holy Cathedral are one. Tell the world... the Archduke is hungry."
