The "Gilded Rose" was a monument to excess. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling like frozen tears, and the air was thick with the scent of expensive champagne and the arrogant laughter of those who thought they were untouchable.

Leo didn't enter through the front door. He flickered through the shadows of the balcony, a ghost in the machine of their celebration. He watched from the rafters as Marcus raised a glass of liquid gold, his face flushed with the pride of a man who had just successfully sacrificed a "worthless" life to secure his own future.
"To the Silver Dawn!" Marcus roared. "And to the new era of prosperity we've secured!"
Leo's grip tightened on the hilt of his obsidian blade. Enjoy your last drink, Marcus. It's the most expensive one you'll ever have.
Raven's absence hadn't been noticed yet—everyone assumed she was just out on the terrace, enjoying her usual solitary smoke. But that was about to change. Leo signaled to Seraphina, who was hovering in the dark corners of the ceiling, her violet eyes gleaming with anticipation.
"Let's turn the music off," Leo whispered.
He didn't just step; he vanished. Using Shadow Step, he reappeared directly behind the main power hub of the lounge. With a single, concentrated burst of mana, he shattered the conduits.
SNAP.
The chandeliers went dark. The music died mid-note. The room was plunged into a sudden, suffocating silence, broken only by the confused murmurs of the elite.
"What's going on?" Marcus's voice boomed, now laced with a hint of irritation. "Security! Get the backup generators online!"
But the backup generators wouldn't save them. Leo was already moving. He moved through the crowd like a wolf through a flock of blind sheep. Every time he flickered, another guard fell silently to the floor, their throats opened by a blade they never saw coming.

The screaming started when a young noblewoman stepped on the cooling corpse of the head of security. The panic was instantaneous. The "heroes" of the Silver Dawn scrambled for their weapons, but in the pitch-black darkness of the lounge, they were just as helpless as the monsters they hunted.
Leo reappeared in the center of the room, illuminated only by the faint, purple glow of his Monarch's Aura. He was holding Raven's shriveled, silver cigarette case in his hand. He tossed it onto the table in front of Marcus.
"The sacrifice didn't take, Marcus," Leo said, his voice cutting through the chaos like a jagged razor.
Marcus froze. He stared at the glowing purple eyes in the dark, his hand shaking as he reached for his golden shield. "Leo? That's impossible... you were dead! I saw the ritual complete!"
"The ritual did complete," Leo replied, stepping into the light of a single emergency flare that had just been lit. He looked terrifying—covered in the blood of the guards, his muscles rippling under his marble-pale skin, and Seraphina floating just behind him like a dark angel. "But the gods didn't want my soul. They gave me yours instead."
Marcus roared, charging forward with his shield raised, the golden metal glowing with holy light. But to Leo's enhanced Agility and Perception, the Guild Leader looked like he was moving through mud.
Leo didn't block. He danced. He moved around the shield and drove his obsidian blade through Marcus's shoulder, pinning the "hero" to the mahogany bar.
"Gah!" Marcus screamed, the holy light of his shield flickering and dying.

"You aren't a king, Marcus," Leo whispered, twisting the blade deeper. "You're just a coward who hides behind a shiny piece of metal. And now, I'm going to show everyone what happens to cowards."
